XP on the Forums
I think a great idea for PMC would make it a possible way to get experience points on the forums. I have noticed people that are level one, but have 300+ forum posts. I don't know about the rest of you, but that person deserves to be of high rank on the site. The experience bar is supposed to show how much they give to the site whether it comes from skins, mods, projects, blogs, texture packs, or even just participation, I believe that keeping the forums friendly and active will be great. The only problem with this is that it could cause 'inflation' where everyone can gain levels much faster. Don't think that this is a required feature, I'm just thinking out loud hoping that it might catch peoples attention and eventually develop into a site enhancing project!

It's a good idea and I wish we could implement it, but it's just too open to spam. I didn't really start submitting content until after I had been on PMC for over two months. It would have been cool if I could have had some XP from all the forum surfing I had been doing.
Ha yeah that's the same thing that happened to me. I agree with Anamatrix about how it needs to be refined and I think with a little brainstorming it could become an amazing new feature. Thanks for all the support/feedback!

It's an idea that needs to be refined, but it could work.
Trust me this would just make people spam the forums when they want XP for a new level or just want XP in general. The only way to make it count would be to have a really high ratio like 10 posts to 1XP, and then it's so high it would be pointless. Even then people would still spam to get XP.
I agree people would spam which is why forum moderators would have yet another job to do. Users already spam and maybe it could be 5 posts per point so people that use the forums regularly, like me, that could care less about not getting that much experience, this is just for the people of low level but high popularity among the forums that post tons a day but have never made a skin in their life. I like the idea, if it weren't for the fact it would be so easily abused it would be a great thing, I just REALLLYYY hate spammers. Its not even so much about it giving us more work, I just despise spammers, spam doesn't even taste good
Yeah I hate spammers too. I am really happy and grateful for all the work the Forum/Site moderators do. Maybe we could have Cyprezz look at this, and being the super genius that he is, he could come up with a solution to add more benefits from being a Forum Addict, like myself.

If a user if abusing this with smileys or spam, it can be easily reported and dealt with when possible.

This isn't that good of an idea simply because of how easily it could be abused, all it would take is someone spamming the forums with smileys to ruin it for everyone, and they would.

Yes that is exactly what I meant when I mentioned inflation, but perhaps there could be a quality level that gives forum moderators more work to do?
