puzzle maps are cool! i'm terrible with redstone myself, so kudos to you.
hi and welcome! if you're here to get more well known then i'd suggest making mods, but honestly just do the one that intrigues you the most because the most important part of this site is that you enjoy what you're doing. anyways, i wish you luck on all your future pmc endeavors :)

I suppose it depends on what idea you have in mind for modding and/or how you plan to do it. There is MCreator, but it's very barebones, not looked highly upon other modders, and I'd only recommend it as a proof of concept sort of thing.
I'm no good with Redstone myself and only know a bit of Java so I'm probably biased here, though.
