I would like to thank everyone who has taken interest in my projects over the years! The messages and inquiries I have received keep me motivated to keep building!

It's been a while since I've uploaded here, as I have taken a bit of a hiatus on building for a bit. That said, there has been some progress on the Abandonment Project & I am finally back into the motions of putting some content out there. I wanted to be sure I had something substantial to present.

Firsly, there is a new map in the works for my builds. I've been putting it together since earlier this year. It is quite a large island emulating some of the geographical features of Scotland and the UK.

The Abandonment Project now also has a [in-dev] server! My hope is to utilize this not only for showcasing my work, but to enable builders to have access to the tools and space required to make their own great projects!

Hollow Hill is undergoing a major facelift, which has proven to be quite a bit of work as well. The interior is getting a complete overhaul & updated to bring it out of the "old-school" antiquated texturing and into the 2020s! There are some fun surprises rolled into this as well - stay tuned!

Hi everybody,

I apologize for the continued lack of activity. I think it's time to take a break for a while.

I'd been working up something behind the scenes that had taken up a lot of my time and energy, and I didn't want to publicize it until it was ready.

However - a week or so ago - our server recently had a "near-death-moment" when a rogue admin decided to delete all of our files from our FTP, including a virtually stored backup, delete our server discord, and gut our website.

Luckily I locally store backups. However, we had an issue with backup archives corrupting with CheckSum errors and the only data able to be recovered was some CoreProtect data and Player data. Thankfully I had a backup from 4/7/2020 that was viable, and we were able to recover everything up to a month ago. The CoreProtect data was then used to restore everything in the world that was hand-placed and not plugin-based, leaving WorldEdits and everything else to be excluded.

Anyways, I lost a ton of work that took a lot out of me to build in the first place - a whole month's work to be precise.

After all the work and stress that went into recovering the server the best we could, and preventing any further damage, I just don't have patience to rebuild things at this time.

I'll be back eventually, but for now - I hope everyone continues to build wonderful things and show them off. I look forward to the inspiration!

Hollow Hill just reached 5,000 views!

I'd really like to thank everyone who's shown interest in Hollow Hill and my other work!

Before joining PMC I had been posting my work to Reddit, but learned that it's not exactly a great platform to showcase full builds. I'm thankful that I can properly catalogue my work here and share it with an excellent community. It's also given me motivation and inspiration to continue working on my never-ending project.

So, stay tuned! There's plenty more on the way!

For years I've played without texture packs/resource packs.

What's everybody's thoughts on building interiors?

I tend to get caught up in doing interiors because of configuration and establishing a good palate, and mostly due to detailing.

To put it into perspective, if I had only done the shell of Hollow Hill, it would have only taken a few weeks at most. But because of the interior, it took almost a year until it was presentable. The shame of it is most people who explore it miss 90% of the details anyways. Seems like diminishing returns, but yet my builds feel incomplete without an interior.

Anyways, here's an abandoned bakery I've been spending way too much time detailing:

Well said, that's pretty much where I'm at with interiors. It's a necessary thing, but difficult and time consuming to pull off.

I think personally that interiors are a very important part of every minecraft building and that most of them should have them, and in the end it will look nicer as you can give the building a story and a purpose. However they do take very long.

I hear ya on the entities! It's unfortunate they cause so much performance impact because they're necessary for good detailing. Kinda sucks having to hold back a bit on using them, especially with buildings that are close together.

Besides taking way too long to make, I love interiors of buildings! Especially working on mansions ! But since some of my work is rather big and my interior includes lots of entities (item frames etc.) it gets really laggy ! Imagine doing that not only to one building but a whole world ... would be unplayable for me xD ! And I mostly never finish interior work!

Thankfully with this project (Graystone) I'm able to have buildings that feature collapse events, which save a lot of time that would normally be spent detailing rooms.

As I prepare the scene for my intro for upcoming videos, I find myself wondering which way I should go with video content in the future.

My first video on my channel is a cinematic showcase of my psychiatric hospital build. It turned out to be decent for a first video, but there's definitely room to expand upon it. Definitely some things I would do differently in the future.

I have some ideas for a new video once this intro sequence is shot and edited; a walkthrough of the asylum (complete with commentary, breakdowns, etc.), a breakdown of my "Inside Minecraft's SCARIEST Asylum" video (how it was made/shot/edited and other notes & commentary) and other cinematic showcases. Perhaps some RP scenarios could be recorded too.

Cinematic stuff is really fun to record, edit and produce, but generally takes a long time to put something together.

Any thoughts? What kind of Minecraft videos do you enjoy watching?
