hey guys i just wanted to let you know i’m leaving pmc and skindex, its been really nice knowing you all and i’ve had a lot of fun times and good memories made on these platforms. thank you for all the support π«Άπ«Ά
We have noticed a few attackers being a bit too generous when scoring their skins and want to mention that
Be honest with your scoring!! Do not let personal bias affect your scoring. If your skin looks like a 2, it is a 2; do not put a 3. If your skin looks like a 1, it is a 1; do not put anything else
Shading is based on the complexity of your texture; is there an understanding of how light interacts with surfaces and forms? How complex is the shading palette used? Colors are based on hues and values. Is there an understanding of color theory/hue-shifting, and do colors look pleasing to the eyes?
Note: If you submit a mass number of attacks that are all max score, we will notice and will take action
Attached are more detailed guides of shading and coloring, respectively. note that, 2 is the average, not 3, if you consider yourself an average skinner, you are not a 3
Additionally, we have created one more Carrd page detailing how to score attacks better while also providing scoring examples and videos. Keep in mind that the page is still a work in progress and will be finished at a later date. In the meantime, everyone is free to provide suggestions to us in our Discord Server
Overall, happy skinning! But be mindful to stay honest <3
Hey guys, it's been awhile. This is the first time I checked pmc and skindex in a bit, but sometimes I come on here to support some of my favorite skin artists. Recently i've realized that the skinning community isn't what it used to be, pmc is a lot more active, but skindex is dying quicker than i thought it would. Even in the two months that i've been gone i have noticed a huge difference, and honestly it's sad to see. I joined at the time where the skinning community was very active, (around early 2021) so the emptiness is very noticeable to me. A reason why i think it could be dying is the fact that some of the most well known people on these platforms have quit already, and i totally get it, sometimes you grow out of hobbies like this. Anddd now i'm ranting.. I just wanted to talk about it and just say hi. Now back into the shadows.
i haven't posted in awhile or atleast consistently in over 5 months lol so i'm thinking about quitting tbh, my passion for skin making has kind of died out and it now seems like a chore :/ like i try and make skins because someone wants me to join their contest and not because i think it's fun. so not an official quit, but just a long break, and i've been doing this for 3 years now and i know it's not that long but i feel like i need a break. sorry for long post π edit: i also kind of forgot how to make a decent skin lol
i'm thinking of doing two series, a hermitcraft series and a stardew valley series, what one should i do first? and based on what one you'd like, who should i start with?
