Well to be fair, I worked at a place that had 5 servers serving about 80 employees.
most of the stuff was for data storage cuz they had to keep client records for like 10 years.
the primary server had a 12 core xeon (or maybe 2xXeons with 6cores..) but task manager came out with 24 threads, and the server itself had 32gb of ram sooo... people Do need computers like this in actual businesses but.. probably not w/e he's refering to

faster, maybe. easier, no.
I couldn't get used to the fact the start menu no longer doubled as a run box.
I couldn't figure out how to turn it off the first day i had it, so for the next 3 months never bothered to learn xD (run box + "shutdown /p")

I kinda agree with both sides on this.

on one hand, everyone seems to think money grows on trees. people rent a server and ask for donations to keep the server running. of course no one donates, so the server owners add perks to make donating worthwhile. sometimes that doesn't work out, and the server just becomes a financial drain on the owner, and thus eventually shuts down. shutting down leads to the rage of the remaining players yet still NO ONE wants to donate money.

on the other hand, i've seen some servers try to avoid the donation problem entirely by adding minigames and other things which you pay real money to play/use. I've even come across some servers that pretty much have little to nothing for players who Don't pay anything. Granted I do find servers like this annoying, but really when you think about it, it makes sense. big servers like this have policies & procedures just like a real business. some companies aren't all that different from MC servers. both have drama, both have politics. if the owner of the company/server decides to just quit and retire is there any sort of course of action planned so it doesn't have to be shut down? but again, i do find servers like this annoying because to me it feels like the server is just screaming at you "Pay me or GTFO". some server's i've found that they have like 2 ranks for non-donators then like 7-10 for donators based on how much they pay. typically these are the servers that i tend to avoid because, they are out to make a Profit, and not to just cover their expenses.

in the future, I can see big servers going away. as many people seem like they just don't want to pay for anything, and the rise of small poorly built servers being more and more common.

I'd say both builds would get you over the 60fps mark, and really that's all you need.
most people's monitors run at 60hz, so if your generating more then 60 frames per sec then those extra frames are pretty much discarded.

as for recording, i'd say switch out the CPU for a faster one. (not to start an AMD vs Intel discussion but..) from my experience, you should probably go for an intel chip. builds that involve Gaming only usually run AMD and do great, but builds that involve any sort of multitasking (recording/playing for example) usually run Intel. unfortunately, the multitasking bit comes with more cost associated with it.

furthermore, if you put the same AMD cpu and Ram into both builds then it wont matter what build you end up going with as you'll get the Same minecraft FPS on both. the reason is because minecraft is more Ram/CPU intensive then it is GPU intensive. Both GPUs will be able to run minecraft at almost any FPS you want (unless you use shaders) but it's the ram speed/Cpu speed that really matter with this game.

if its a brand new computer i'd suggest updating your graphics driver and updating java if need be.

I would suggest going to best buy, or buying an alienware computer.

If you don't know what to buy for your gaming rig, then most likely you have no idea how to put it together too.

1: recommend staying away from AMD CPUs
2: ALL i repeat..ALL on-board/internal graphics cards Suck Horribly
3:what your wanting sounds like you've already exceeded your 500$ budget, don't forget your OS costs about 100$, and like i said before i'd Highly recommend staying away from AMD CPUs because from my experience they cost Really cheap (which makes them so interesting to look at when placed into your budget) but they run like crap through and through you need a high end AMD quad core to compete with the low in core iXs

the chance of that actually happening is Very Very Slim

point being, your flipping out over what is probably nothing...as do many other people

just chill and go change your IP

1: a griefer got DOXed, sir..i have no pitty for you, you deserve every bit of what he does to you
2: someone can get your ip simply by using a command like /whois or checking the console when you join their server unless like paril said your masking it via socks server (proxy servers)
3: he could've gotten that information thru social engineering aka your friend tells him your name, your friend gives him the url to your facebook account ect
4:the only possible way to get someone's information (without social engineering) is to crack into the ISPs database and then they'd get the account holder's information and i'm guessing your not the account holder (for accuracy: it is possible to narrow down someone's location to a City using their IP address)

if you're really paranoid, you can try to change your ip address which is usually as simple as changing the mac address on your router, or pluging a computer into your modem then switching back to the router

PiddlesamHey Guys,

So my minecraft has been fine, until i left it for the last few days to play skyrim on the ps3. No updates and no new mods have been added nor has nothing changed with my pc.

Yesterday i wanted to play a singleplayer with my husband, and it started to get laggy and then it said shutting down internal server and a message came up saying minecraft has ran out of memory.

I have looked around and found what i thought was fixes, but nothing has worked so far. The game is unplayable. I have removed mods and tried to play, and this doesnt work, ive gone on multiplayer and its been fine, but singleplayer wont work.

Has anyone else had this? Has anyone got any suggestions? How do i fix it? I have done the allocating more memory and changing the notpad to .bat etc but when i click it, it opens and closes straight away, so i dont know if that is normal?

Any help would be great and thanks in advance x

i'd suggest increasing the java cache size and increasing the ram allocated to minecraft via batch file
you can increase the cache size by going into the control panel then to java then to settings under temporary internet files then pushing the slider for the disk space to the right
as for the batch file, you open a notepad put this code in
@ECHO OFF
"C:\Program files\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx6144M -Xms6144M -XX:MaxPermSize=2048m -jar minecraft.exe
exit note: this code is set to use 6gb of ram and 2gb for maxpermsize my computer has 10gb of ram, adjust accordingly
anyways, click save as then at the bottom "save as type" change to "all files" then type for the name Run.bat (name it w/e just make sure you add .bat at the end) and put this batch file in with the minecraft.exe file and run it (i have them placed in a folder in my documents and a shortcut to the batch on my desktop - in case your a neat freak like me )

if that Does Not work then the next best thing would probably be to A: update java and B: erase your .minecraft folder out of appdata

there's no such thing as a "gaming laptop"

your just going to blow a massive hole in your wallet thinking so


before you think i'm crazy consider this...
games require high powered graphics card to get high quality graphics (medium/high on battlefield or something)
having alot of power moving around generates alot of heat
laptops are Designed to produce as little heat as possible and to conserve energy due to power being limited while mobile

laptops that break this rule of thumb are most commonly ridiculously priced, and just because a laptop has a high price tag means nothing. I had a co-worker that sold a 700$ laptop for 1500$ by simply adding a battlefield 3 wallpaper to the desktop and branding it as a gaming laptop

when i read this, i thought my own server lol so... brief description..

everything is made by hand, cept our new spawn. I think my co-owner used worldedit to create the dome on it (not copy/paste someone elses) and furthermore No One is allowed to build using creative (cept the server stuff ex:spawn, mini-games ect) cuz we perfer players building impressive builds Legitly

we Do have PvP but players can only fight Inside PvP arenas

and we Do Not take donations so we don't pester ppl for money
