Just came back to PMC after a long time and it took me a while to realise but... I can't see any "Minecraft but OP" datapack anywhere ? That's fantastic news !

What happened though ? Have PMC done something to prevent them ? Did they gradually die when public interest diminished ? Has there been a war ?! I'm genuinely curious, can someone tell me more about it ?

Don't really know that well, think they just faded out of popularity.

Spent a whole morning modeling and tinkering with ressource packs to replace minecraft tridents with Mjölnir... Before realising that you simply can't in vanilla :X

I was wondering why it hadn't really been done when it's such an obvious idea. Well that's why x|

Does anyone know how to fix this ?

I recently upgraded my old pc to one with better performances and a higher definition, and when I joined my Beta 1.7.3 world I realised the clouds and blocks far away rendered a little funky.
I really have no clue how to correct this. Also there are not a lot of rendering options in this version.

Have you tried updating your drivers?

I have this problem on a 3070 and still can't figure it out either. I've tweaked all my game settings, my graphic card settings, nada. I live with it now.

Hi, it's me ! Time for an unpleasant announcement.

I know a lot of the people who are subscribed to me are there for the datapack I started almost 3 years ago that seem to have gotten quite a few people excited : Mo' Structures.

Every now and then, I would see a comment asking if I would come back to the project and I would affirm that I would, and that the project was simply paused until Mojang added blablabla. So I added "Project Paused" to the title of the datapack so people knew roughly what was happening.

Recently, I got a DM from someone who wanted to create a new datapack with my help : they would create the structures and and I would rework the old system. It seemed like quite a good idea, I was on board with this and started the rework.

After a while without working on it because of limitations (my previous pc not able to run recent versions of Minecraft for example), I realised I just... didn't care about it. I was not motivated and the thought of working on it was just tiring. So yeah, I gave up. I'm annoyed at myself for making the other person working on it waiting for nothing.

There is still good in this though. They said they would find someone else to work on the datapack with them and I told them I would give them my incomplete work, explained how the system works and my thoughts on how to build on it. So this datapack should see the light of day eventually. I'll make sure to share it when it happens.

You may have noticed I didn't give the name of the person I was working with, the name of the new datapack or the full explanation of what it will be about. The reason is I simply don't know if they want any of this to be revealed yet so I won't develop.

What I'm gonna do now, is change the original project page so people know it's abandoned and I will also delete the Discord server I created for it. I never used it anyway.
Sorry If I disappoint some of you guys, have a nice day anyway !

tl;dr : The Mo' Structures datapack is abandonned but a similar datapack by someone else using the system I made may see the light of day.

I'd like to work on making new datapacks and updates some of my previous ones but my PC is getting old and it cannot run Minecraft anymore. I haven't been able to try out 1.17 by myself because the performances are way to bad and I either crash under 2 minutes after I join my world or simply cannot walk because I'm under 5 fps and its unplayable.
Until I find the time to buy a new PC, I just won'y be able to play Minecraft and it means no content for you guys.

Unless ! I started to play on my Beta 1.7 world again because it's the only way it's the only version my PC is able to run now. I am having a good time though.

    Hey Valkon,
I realized I never came back to thank you.
I tested it and it works! My performances still aren't fantastic but at least I can play! So thank you for your recommendation :)

    Hi Cray_On, greetings.

I'm not sure if you're interested, but there's some Fabric mods that might make 1.17.1 playable for you.

I have a pretty average laptop, and with Vanilla 1.17.1 on the lowest settings I get:
    • 5 - 10 fps - during heavy chunk generation (first 1-2min of world load is really bad).
    • 25 - 45 fps - moving around on the surface in generated chunks.
But with the a bunch of Fabric optimization mods I get:
    • 15 - 30fps - during heavy chunk generation (I use chunk pregenerator to help fix this)
    • 60 - 120 fps - moving around in generated chunks (a steady 60fps with vsync on)
I've got my own custom set of mods, but the easiest way to try this out is to install the Fabulously Optimized modpack.

I use MultiMC launcher as it's light, fast and makes managing different setups easy.
And the above modpack has a zip download you can just drag into the launcher for easy install.

Let me know if you end up trying this and it works out for you.

Otherwise enjoy Beta 1.7, which is a different kind of fun :)
    Cray_On2021-09-13 11:21:55
Fun fact : Did you know that in Beta 1.7 there was a feature where, if you went to sleep, there was a random chance that a mob will spawn on your face ? Well I didn't know and it's an absolute pain.

To take this simple screenshot I just wanted to skip the night and I ended up dying 6 or 7 times because every time i tried to sleep a zombie or a skeleton insta-killed me. I'm so glad it is not in the game anymore!

Hey! Does anyone know details about Minehut servers?

I received a comment a while ago saying that one of my datapack was blocked by their server with a message saying that it is inefficient and dangerous. I asked questions but haven't heard from it since.
I would like to know how to fix the issue so I'm able to address it on my submission's page but I know absolutely nothing about how Minehut operates.

Anyone can explain to me what people with this problem must do?

It was definitely unnecessary, especially since I won't get to use it anywhere else than on Planet Minecraft, but I drew myself a Minecraft profile picture. And I made it animated as well? Why the hell am I putting so much effort into it?
I mean, at least it looks cool I guess.

Guys, can we please stop spamming "Minecraft but OP" datapacks?
I just came back to Planet Minecraft to browse though datapacks and a solid, what, 1 fourth of them were like that? 21 out of the 25 in the "BEST" section were "Minecraft but OP" and it really sucks for all the datapack creators who put effort and thought into what they are doing. We don't need more "Sneaking give you OP effects", "Murdering cows gives you netherite blocks" and You get a random item every 5 miliseconds". Really.
If you are creating such datapacks, I don't want to put you to shame, just reconsider before posting a datapack everyone has seen before. I have no problems with meme datapacks (it's not my jam but I get it), but there are just too much and posting even only one, contributes to the flowd and invisiblizes the hard working content creators. Think about them.

I just released an update to my Safe Leashes datapack that aims at improving compatibility with other datapacks. I made sure it follows the Minecraft Datapack convention but it is still yet to be certified. It should definitely be fine though.

If you have installed my Nether Start datapack previouly, I recommend you download the newest version for it improves compatibilty with other datapacks following the Minecraft Datapack conventions.
And if you haven't, well, it's still time you check it out I guess :)

Proof of concept/Technical test : Actual Fireballs

The cut is accidentaly abrupt but it's actually hilarious so I'm keeping it

Most datapacks and such including fireballs I've seen do not actually make use of the actual fireball entity the game already has. They use armor stands teleporting in a straight line with fancy particles. I didn't know how fix it myself but I actually found a way using maths. I haven't seen anybody doing that yet so if you're interested in knowing how it works, just ask me.

This is part of a project of spell books datapack that I mostly develop to test technical stuff. I do not promise any release as of yet.

The mod I'm using to get the weird 3rd person angle to show the trajectory of the fireball better is Perspective Mod Redux.

This is what it looks like to live next to a warped forest (full of endermen)
They sure love to destroy their home habitat and make a mess everywhere else.

I swear I find those nylium blocks way over 100 blocks away the forest. And this section has been cleared a couple of times. (I'm definitely not good at showcasing the phenomenon, but I'll keep the mess untouched until I have a new excuse to share a screenshot)

If you are playing with my Nether Start datapack, you should probably download the last update.
It is a pure bug fixing update, mainly correcting the player spawn position and fixing the setworldspawn function that simply didn't work. It also adds an uninstall function to make it easier to remove the datapack.

That's pretty much it. Cya !

Just hanging out with my new piglin friend. (Ok I actually just took the selfie with him in the back without him noticing but I dont have that much friends you know.)
I just started a Survival world starting in the nether using my last datapack Nether Start. What a refreshing experience after years of classic survival !
I will maybe share my progress in this world, just because.

Hey, sorry for not giving any news for so long. (4 months now? Wow)
Today I saw a comment asking me if my "Mo' Structures" datapack project was abandoned, if we they should still be waiting for it. It made me realize that quite a few people were waiting without knowing what they should expect from me. So today I want to make an announcement about that.

No, I do not abandon the project. I care about it a lot, and I want to bring it to completion. Sadly, I do not have the time to work on it anymore as I'm starting my art studies. I do have a lot of ideas, maybe people I'd like to work with and so many potential for this project.
So here we are : the project is paused. I want to come back to it when I'll have the time but yeah... I won't give any date of when I'll be back, because I have honestly no idea but hopefully I can do it before Mojang actually add this as a feature.
So see you, I may not completely disappear but I hope you'lll understand. Bye

Just released the version BETA 1.1.1 of my MO STRUCTURES datapack. It was supposed to be a minor update but I realised that a lot of things had to be fixed. If you downloded previous version of the datapack, you may want to update for a more polished version.
Also I found an issue that could have prevented totally the generator to work. I haven't received any report or feedback from the BETA 1.1 so it seems like I fixed the problem before anyone has to complain about it.

I just realized I forgot to update the download file to the last version of the Mo Structure yesterday. It's now fixed. If you downloaded the datapack yesterday you may want to download the actual update if you want to play with it.
Also I'm planning to update the pack to BETA 1.1.1 to polish a few things. You may want to wait a few hours to get a more presentable version.
    Cya

I'm developping a datapack to add custom structures depending on the biome, and I'm asking myself a question: Does mycelium have to be a rare ressource ? I don't want to break the game just for aestetic. What do you think .
    DinowCookie2019-05-27 15:39:48
I don't think mycelium has to be a rare block. They're harder to collect in any case since you need silk touch and then it still doesn't really add any advantage to have other than aesthetic. I like the random mushroom patch :D quite neat!

    Hey! Uh, I'm back

I'm currently creating a post for my brand new SMP server, and I'm asking myself : I want to put a temporary background behind the logo of the server and put it as the first image of the PMC server post.
But as i said, the server is brand new and there is currently nothing to show on the server yet.
Do you think it's okay to temporarily use a random build of mine as a background if I precise that it is not an actual build we can find on the server ?
Maybe if i make sure the build isn't the focus point of the image by using a blur effect over it ?
