I couldn’t help but notice this thread and there is a tutorial that for me got me making skins.
Turotial by Varunax: http://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/varunas-anime-skin-tutorial/I did not make this tutorial and I will admit that with my skins I do add detail on the side despite being told not too in the tutorial. This tutorial is mainly for creating skins for anime characters but I still think it is awesome as it talks in details about the dos and don’ts, expressions and hair.
Also a really great tip – make a basic nude skin. Whenever I start a new one I use a naked skin that I have created based on the anatomy of other skins that I have downloaded. This greatly helps to quickly get the tones and body parts in the right places.
