me 10 months ago sounds really salty. sorry 'bout that. i sound really dumb in that other post (interestingly, i think i liked bedrock edition more then than i do now but that's not the point) since then i have learned a lot more about the game and though now i play bedrock even less (mostly because my switch is at low memory and crashes a lot) i think the reason i thought so highly of java edition then was because i managed java on a chromebook, which is a feat in it's own right. i do deeply apologize for slightly younger me's saltiness.
i do understand you need higher requirements to run java, but this is simply because bedrock needed to be able to run on ancient phones. java was older and was not originally built to run on console. ports take a while and java players didn't seem to mind just pc.
my updated opinion is that if you don't need the extras or don't have a very powerful device/the knowledge to make java run on a weak laptop, bedrock is for you. if you want to get into technical features or try out mods, java is for you. so, it's mostly needs and preference.
(ps sorry for the lack of capitalization i'm too lazy to hit "shift")
