On other note, we have lost a dear member of the Minecraft community yesterday. As much as this is devastating news to most of us, please do label trigger warnings accordingly, as shown above.

Please also don't go into adjacent streamers' streams and videos and notify them about his death in the chats or comments. They will most likely know about this event and may prefer to keep silent about it, losing a close friend or family member can be sensitive to many.

Many videos scheduled today will be delayed tomorrow for the Minecraft community to grieve. Most discords will also be temporarily locked down for similar reasons. Please do respect their decisions for this situation.

May he forever fly high, and rest in peace.

Regarding the Minecraft chat moderation/reporting.
There's no right way to do it. At all.

Currently, they're having people (moderators) review reports. Every report, ever. There are so many issues with this, but the two main ones are:
1. There are going to be thousands, if not millions of reports per day.
2. No matter how professional your moderators are, how well they follow rules and are aware of context, there will always be bias. People are people, you cannot change that.

If they wanted to make it easier(?) for themselves, you'd think making the system completely automatic would be a good idea. It wouldn't.
Bots are horrible at moderation.

Realistically, they should remove this all together. It's not going well and no matter what they do with it or how much they change it, it will never work out.
In my ~9 years of playing, I've never had or heard of any issues regarding chats, despite being on many, many different types of servers (including those old, cringe prison servers).
If parents want to complain about it possibly being unsafe (which I've also...never seen?), they can just watch their kids? Monitor what servers their 10 y/o is playing on, not ruin it for everyone else.

There are a lot more issues with the chat moderation/reporting, as well as inconsistencies in their rules as well as the new blog, but I didn't cover them here. Everything about this is horrible.

EDIT: Also, they claim they're trying to make it safer for everyone. What's gonna happen with the inappropriate or racist skins seen? Those get banned on big servers usually (...as with profanity and everything else listed for chat moderation lmao). Are they going to tell us that it's our responsibility to moderate what we own (websites, skins we make, etc. which is the right thing, we do own them, especially if it's a website someone is paying for)? Oh, wait.
