i'm gonna be honest right now bc i'm so sick of seeing people be disgusted by my identity everywhere i go: if you still hold up the bible as a reason to be offended by the existence lgbt+ people, then you must also uphold the beliefs that

1. wearing clothing made of two different materials is bad. leviticus 19:19
   
2. that anything a woman touches while on her period is made unclean. leviticus 15: 19-20
   
3. slavery is okay, child slavery included, and that slaves should obey their masters. leviticus 25:44-46 NLT, ephesians 6:5 NLT
   
4. if your son is rebellious, you can stone him to death. deuteronomy 21:18-21
   
5. a variety of physically disabled people aren't allowed in god's alter, so as not to 'taint' it. leviticus 21:17-23 KJV
   
6. giving birth to a daughter makes you unclean for 66 days. leviticus 12:5
   
7. if a man's brother dies, he has to impregnate the wife. mark 12:19
   
8. women should have no authority over men. timothy 2:11
   
9. you should discipline your child by throwing them into stone walls. psalm 137:9
   
10. if you disobey god, you must eat your own children. leviticus 26:27-30
    

i have nothing against people who practice religion, but if you use your religion as an excuse for your disgust towards the lgbt+ community, then you have no reason not to uphold all of these beliefs as well, rather than simply cherry-picking to justify your homophobia and transphobia.

i often see the microaggression (video on that here) "i don't hate gay people, it's just against my belief uwu" said blindly, thinking it justifies- irrationalises - the way my stomach drops when i see people talking about how gay people should be more quiet about they're identity, how they shouldn't make it obvious, how they shouldn't make it public. everyone seems completely unaware how harmful this ideology is because lgbt+ people have always had to be quiet.

we stay in the closet for years, even decades, because we're told not to make it obvious, not to show our identity, because doing so is a risk. studies have proven that, due to lgbt-phobic violence, the life expectancy of lgbt+ plus people is shorter than that of cishet people, especially in less accepting regions. the average trans woman of colour is expected to live only to age 35 due to the violence they face.

lgbt+ people are constantly at risk of violence, which is why, now when lgbt+ acceptance is slowly becoming a norm, that we are so happy to be able to flaunt it. we've never been able to before without the risk of being mocked, beaten, even killed- and there still is still that risk constantly in so many places in the world. and when we are mocked, it's these microaggressions- "i don't support gay people" "gay people make me uncomfortable" "being gay is wrong" -that quickly bleed into "gay people shouldn't exist". mere days ago, a 9 year old child who came out as gay killed himself due to being the target of such bullying.

so. i will continue to talk about how i'm gay. i will continue to talk about my excitement for gay media. i will continue to support my lgbt+ siblings because that is the little power i have. love. i have love for my community, and i will not shut up about it.

so anyway, i'd rather die than use this site again. peace, nerds.
