    watercolour paints I take it all back I'm sorry I doubted you. I think it was turning out frustratingly miserably because I was doing it all wrong. acrylic and watercolour are polar opposites and you cannot use one like the other.

    god I miss hfjone. watching it update was so awesome. it's the first object show that had me genuinely invested by breaking the competition format not in its absence but in a (well-executed!) inversion. the ending made me so sad and the epilogue investigations are amazing too

    I like when people explore the weird unspoken rules of the de-facto genre that was originally made as a nonsensical TDI semi-clone by two kids in Flash

    I want to pick up painting but all I have is watercolours which I don't really like the feel or look of. I miss acrylics; they were smooth and bright and great for making tiny details.

    I've had a vision of something kicking around for a few years now that I'd want to paint, but I fear I won't do it justice at my level of skill, you know? I might forget what it was originally supposed to look like.

    I'm excited to beat Kirby Star Allies's main story after not playing it for years so I can do the Guest Star mode. It reminds me of Meta Knightmare Returns which is awesome because I absolutely loved that mode (not dedetour though i hated dedetour and never finished it)

    too bad my skills have atrophied in that ~3 year period and I run into attacks constantly. the CPUs scurrying around are very very distracting. I should replay the 3DS games to get my muscle memory back maybe

    I should make more skins based on songs, it's fun making these. I have this one based on a Beck song that has been sitting in my recents for months. I'm going to try to incorporate elements from the music video since I usually skip those and just go off the song itself.

    I've never known what most album covers (let alone the singers) look like until relatively recently. I gotta get more CDs of stuff, maybe a vinyl if I can nab one since I have a player now but none to use it with. though, most of the vinyls of what I like are damn expensive. shaking my fist at the sky.

    if Etude for Ghosts was supposed to be a battle theme for Mother 3 before the game got shoved to the GBA, imagine what the rest of the OST would have been like if it was actually released for the 64. technical constraints notwithstanding

    I'm trying to port a newer texture pack to 1.12 for something but I forgot that they totally changed how water works in 1.13. the water texture is pale grey and consequently so is every body of water. not sure how to fix that yet, it'll probably look weird because pre-Aquatic water is a bright acid blue. BiomeTweaker looks promising, though.

    in case anyone happens to see this, the game uses a multiply filter on the B&W water texture with the biome colour in =<1.12! this is much easier than what I described and is more accurate. also, pre-1.13, the water texture is white, so you must recolour it to white if you wish to backport a texture!

    all I had to do was recolour the texture to the vanilla default blue (clipping the colour onto the original texture to preserve transparency, then layering the original texture on top with the HSV value blending filter). I used the vanilla texture to get the hue because I can't find the exact hex code for it anywhere.

    I LOVE Cherubim. the songs consistently reference each other (almost as a reaction or an echo attempting to one-up the other side), alternating which twin they're for, before ending the pattern abruptly (fitting the suddenness of Calliope's death) with a song with no opposite.

    the UHC's letimotif lists per song and notes from the artists are pretty nice to have, as the intention and foreshadowing would be lost on me without them because I read it archivally (e.g., Carne Vale referencing Eternity Served Cold makes sense, as the track art depicts Caliborn thinking about his plans). it's also full of genuinely good songs.

    Calliope's are a lot more dreamlike and jolly while Caliborn's are abrasive and ominous (the latter being some my personal favourites). they fit their respective goals at the time leading up to [​S] Caliborn: Enter: Caliborn wants to predominate by force by taking advantage of their unnatural circumstances of having Dream Selves; Calliope wants to have it happen peacefully (i.e. naturally, how cherubs are supposed to) and focus on the little joy there is in her life.

    also, never noticed this before, Eternity Served Cold abbrievates as ESC. for the flash where he escapes his confinement in several ways: literally from his shackles (in an overt reference), from the swap of control with his sister, from the post-scratch universe (at least I think that's where the dead earth is?) into that of the dead session, and eventually (after becoming LE) from time itself. dude...

    I started playing Dwarf Fortress classic after watching the recovered Herobrine Copeland stream (someone found the whole VOD, go check it out!!!) and as someone who is both forgetful and indecisive doing literally anything takes 10 times longer than it should but it is so much fun. on my first save file my fisherdwarf got mauled by an alligator within 15 minutes of playing and I hadn't even unloaded the wagon yet

    Marie's palette in Side Order is some of the most fun I've ever had on the mode. It's a lot better than the other weapons at the start because it already has high damage and range. The replica weapon will probably collect dust in my locker unless I pick up the Splat charger for some reason, as cool as it looks; the squiffer's full-speed charging while jumping is too nice to give up yet.

    I'm giving Horse (the band) another shot. Some of The Mechanical Hand sounds like when you screw the jar of a lid on wrong, but as the sound of guitar/drums and if it was also mixed with The Legend of Zelda for the NES. That's the best I can describe it. It's good? I think?
    I need to find more bands that are just "(random noun): the band." I only know Horse and Math and I didn't look into the latter until today.
