Map : Nature's Last Hour

I started by generating variously sized spheres to create the hourglass form

Then, I flipped the lower half to create the upper half, while also elevating the form and adding a base

I then changed the block type to glass for the whole hourglass, added ornamental details to the top and bottom, and added 2 posts, which were also made in part with sphere

I created a little oasis in the upper half

...and an industrial plant in the lower half..with its contents breaking and leaking out of the hourglass

I then used voxelsniper's b e lift command to turn sphere clusters into land masses.

then painted the landscape and added dead trees to make it look like a a forest zone that had dried up due to the heat

I made little birds, and placed them such that it looked like they were escaping the oasis, before its time runs out

I had alot of fun detailing the top of the hourglass in particular

I then asked 2 different builder acquaintances to render the project in a digital rendering software - I think they both used Cinema4D. This one is by Droolie.
