I generally like the mechanics in Harry Potter, but it just hit me now and it's pissing me off so much.

The idea of magic being limited to people born with the ability to do so is so incredibly dumb. Like, magic should not be a thing that a tiny fraction of the population just lucked into, it should be something difficult to study, requiring passion, skill, smarts, and dedication. Where anyone can learn it regardless of background.

But noooooo if you're not a wizard you're just some rando. A muggle. A no-mag, in the case of Fantastic Beasts. Doesn't matter how smart you are, you'll never be as good as the elites running the world behind the scenes.

Idk, maybe I'm just mad that baker dude in Fantastic Beasts got obliviated. He deserved to do magic more than a lot of characters from the original films. Actually, thinking about it more, that'd probably avoid the whole abusive adoptive mother subplot in Fantastic Beasts. And entirely eliminate Obscuruses, since magic would be an optional thing.

I feel like the Fantastic Beasts films (I haven't seen the second and third ones yet, but from reviews it seems like this) were the right ingredients, just in the wrong places, but with the combination of JK Rowling and Ezra Miller it was doomed to fail. It's a shame, Creedence was such a good character in the movie but his actor had to go insane or something.

Alright that's the end of my incoherent rant.

I don't have a very steady hand, so one of the biggest critisicms I had about my own art was that my lines looked too dark and messy, and I wished I could do like Coloring Book lineart like other people do
I realized the other day though that my lines have become more steady and not so dark- over time I've unconsiously been improving my lineart skills by making sure my sketch was readable and trying to keep my hand steady, and using a thinner and more crisp brush. Kind of crazy how things work liek that :D
