    i consider minecraft my favorite game but for some reason i can't bring myself to get into over half of whatever the minecraft community is doing
    like no i didn't watch the new season of whateversmp and i don't know if i care enough to
    heck i didn't even watch the first season
    also what the heck is a "verity" and what do you mean that's what the yellow smiley face is associated with now?
    i still associate the yellow smiley face with those weird glaggleland memes from about five years ago
    one of the only modern minecraft series i actually keep up with is a regect and that's because i think it's funny
    also because retrogamingnow introduced me to it and i love that guy's videos
    most other things are just like, you know, they're there, and maybe they're better than i think because i haven't actually interacted with them properly, but i just can't motivate myself to look into them

    and before anyone says i'm a "boomer" or whatever, i should say for the record i didn't necessarily watch a lot of older minecraft youtube either because (lore drop) i didn't exactly grow up watching a lot of youtube (well not independently anyway)
    the main og minecraft youtube thing i watched when i was a kid was element animation (an egg's guide to minecraft and villager news)
    and then some others but either a) no one else knows their name or b) i don't even remember their name

    on a bit of a sidenote i semi-recently decided to watch through the og entity 303 video series and it's really funny how much of a product of its time (and how corny) it is
    like they unironically put "bring me to life" by evanescence ("wake me up inside") into one of the videos

    really exhausting when a video gets taken down because some ai dmca program thinks royalty-free music isn't royalty-free, so you have to directly message the support team and say "yeah actually it is royalty-free" so the video can go back up.
    kind of didn't think i'd run into this issue with dailymotion of all places. like, my introductory video with a kevin macleod song from 2009 is bad because a random ai says so but those pirated star trek and doctor who episodes are fine?
    oh yeah i have a dailymotion btw. i'm mainly gonna use it as a secondary video backup/archive of sorts (primary archive is on the internet archive of course), though tbh this whole experience has kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. if more things like this end up happening down the line i might have to jump ship to another platform for secondary archival.

    paramount plus is such a dogwater streaming service like it's so buggy for no reason
    apparently it might get absorbed into hbo max because of that merger thing
    idk if that'll make it better or worse
    and then there's like some political stuff or something that it's caught up in but i won't get into all that here
    bottom line is uh.. idk paramount's crappy or something
    their physical media releases aren't always that great either because they're all bunched up in a way that i feel like i'm at risk of breaking one or more of the discs
    if you've bought a dvd collection of a star trek series or something like that then you know what i'm talking about most likely

    I always prefer to buy my media physically instead of digital streaming. I'll take DVDs with very little features because I actually own it, unlike if I buy it digitally, and it's basically a glorified rental.

    Realized I never promoted my monthly Patreon post last month, so here's the one that came out in May (which is a bit dated now but whatever):

    It came a bit later than usual, so I decided to make it available to both free and paid memberships as sort of compensation. Thinking back, I'm not sure if that decision actually makes sense, but whatever. The upcoming monthly post, which will be out next Monday (assuming I don't post it late again), will be back to the usual $3/month tier access requirement.

    i keep coming up with so many insane and convoluted ideas for lores of different things i make and yet only approximately 3-7% (yeah sorry not saying the other thing) of those ideas have been published anywhere
    the section about my primary animated canon (the lore roasted meatloaf belongs to) in my character lore blog arguably doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of some of the crazy concepts i've come up with for the larger universe
    i really need to lock in and actually make more things happen at some point

    Yesterday, voice actor Tom Kane sadly passed away at 64 years old.

    In the Star Wars franchise, he was known for providing the voice of the opening narrator in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), as well as Admiral Yularen and Yoda in the same series and some other media. He also voiced Yoda in the previous Star Wars: Clone Wars miniseries from 2003. For a while, he was kind of the main go-to guy for Yoda when Frank Oz wasn't available. He also sometimes did the voice of Admiral Ackbar in some stuff, though not in The Clone Wars (Ackbar appears there but is voiced by a different actor), as well as Qui-Gon Jinn in some Lego Star Wars stuff. Sadly, his voice acting career ended after a stroke in late 2020, with the video game Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which released in 2022, being his final role, where he provided the voices of Yoda, Admiral Ackbar, and Qui-Gon Jinn.

    Outside Star Wars, he was known for his voice acting roles in cartoons such as Professor Utonium and Him in Powerpuff Girls and Mr. Herriman in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. He also sometimes voiced Gandalf in some The Lord of the Rings video games (and Lego Dimensions) as well as Commissioner James Gordon in a few Batman video games, namely Batman: Arkham Asylum and Lego DC Super-Villains. He also sometimes voiced characters in the Marvel Universe, such as Magneto and Ultron. He also voiced Takeo Masaki in Call of Duty from World at War up to Black Ops 4 as well as the robot character Lok in Fortnite: Save the World. There's a lot more stuff I could mention, but I think I've gotten the point across: he was in a lot of stuff. (Added note: he was also the guy who does the Disney FastPlay voiceover.)

    Even though his career had already been over for some time by this point, it is sad to know the man behind these voices is now gone. The Star Wars galaxy, as well as the wider universe, won't be the same without him. Rest in peace, Tom Kane. May the Force be with you.
