How do you find color inspiration for Minecraft skins? 🎨

When designing a Minecraft skin, where do you usually get your color inspiration?

Sometimes a small change in the palette can completely change the personality of a skin.

I'm curious how other skin creators approach it:

I can't believe it's already 2026, it's been a busy start to the year, and I'm surprised my drafts haven't been used up yet lol, I planned better than I thought.

Here's an update on how the hair base production is going;

1. Currently I have made 27 Black hair bases with 19 posted and 8 drafted and ready to be published on schedule.
2. There are only 12 hair bases that are left for me to convert into their black variants
(It's crazy to me that there are so many; after counting I have the disappointing and uneven total of 39 bases ≽(◉˕ ◉ ≼マ)
3. After finishing the black hair variants, I plan on doing the blond variants (it seems like it will never end)

Hello everyone!

I have decided to launch a ko-fi shop for releasing themed skin packs as a way of income to support myself through university and with medical bills for a chronic illness that I have been dealing with since late 2024. Just figured I'd say from the 31st of October (tomorrow/this Friday), all hair bases currently on the skindex will have been uploaded here. That means any new uploads will only be on PMC.


I've been busy with stuff, so my drafts have almost dried up lol. Anyway, uploads will now be once a week on Monday's. My current plan is to create black versions for each hair base. As such only black hair bases will be uploaded from next week Monday until every hair base has its own black version. ฅ^>⩊<^ ฅ

I am going to add a couple more skins to this set, then I'm thinking of uploading it as a skin pack ♥ keep an eye out

Personal use skin edit I made up - can't publicly distribute this one unfortunately but wanted to share my results ★

I found a good nighttime pallete:

CC8b86 an almost mauve pink

f9eae1 an almost white pink

7d4f50 a purplish pink

D1be9c a light purple/pink/mauve

aa998f a VERY light purple.

These are mostly pink/purples, so would be good in a nighttime or dreamy fantasy, maybe.
