Have you ever wanted to use Deepslate for more than just decoration?
Well, now you can! This mod brings a new Pickaxe and Sword to Minecraft. Both items are deliberately balanced and meant for early mid-game progression.

Description

Deepslate Pickaxe

The Deepslate Pickaxe is very strong, able to mine Diamonds, Netherite, and Obsidian, and at the same time as durable as a Diamond Pickaxe. Though, since Deepslate is hard and heavy, mining with it is quite slow. Therefore it is meant to be used to mine blocks you couldn't normally mine with your current tools, not necessarily as a replacement for a Stone or Iron Pickaxe for normal mining.

Deepslate Sword

Similar to the Pickaxe, the Sword is very durable and powerful, inflicting 7 damage on your enemies, the same as a Diamond Sword. Again though, the heavy Deepslate makes it impossible to move the Sword quickly, therefore the hit speed is reduced below normal Sword levels.

Crafting Description

In order to craft either of the tools, you need Hardened Deepslate, a new item. It is crafted using 9 Deepslate blocks, which you get either by mining Deepslate with Silk Touch or smelting Cobbled Deepslate in a furnace.


Using the Hardened Deepslate, crafting the tools mirrors other tools, therefore requiring 2 Sticks and 3 Hardened Deepslate, and 1 Stick and 2 Hardened Deepslate, respectively.

Mod Launcher & Version

Currently, the mod is only officially supported for NeoForge 1.21.4, though it may run fine on other versions as well.

Afterword

I made this mod after thinking to myself that Deepslate should have more use than just decoration. I tried my best to balance the tools and not make them replace any of the normal tools.


I may or may not make changes to the mod in the future. There are no plans yet.
