Use iron bars or lava to craft chain mail.

To install you need:

1.0 Custom Recipes Mod by MightyPork

Load Minecraft to install custom recipes.

Download the mod.

Extract the zip.

Move lava_chainmail.txt to .minecraft/mods/customrecipes/

Enjoy.

Good mod, but that's too much lava to craft with, that's a lot of mining for what could be done better with iron.
