What is it?
A program built to make multi layer pixel art using blocks from Minecraft. It incorporates the use of stained glass stacked
on top of other blocks in-game. The result is better blending and more color selections.

About the program
It is my hope that you enjoy this program. I made this program as a proof of concept for creating high quality pixelart. This program provides a few viewing options to help you actually build the art in-game. You can also save to PNG or Schematic format. Most importantly. You can use the double layer mode which combines stained glass panels with newer Minecraft blocks to create an even larger color pallet.

Update #4 : 12/05/2018 3:27:09 amDec 5th, 2018

- Number of stacks required added to the CSV output

- Checkboxes to show toggle state

Screenshot_11.png

- Automatic Update Checker: Someone on the forums requested an automatic update tool for this. At first I didn't do it because I didn't think people would want it. Now I've added it. You will only get one prompt per version. "Would you like to go to the update page?" Your answer will be saved. If you say yes, you will go to the update page. If you say no, that update will be skipped. The program will not spam you to update. You will only be told to update once. Then it is up to you to go out and fetch the new version.

- Grid Mask: I was trying to use the grid to build some pixel art, but it was hard to keep track of which square I was on. So I added this. Middle click a grid square when grid mode is enabled and it will darken the display except for the clicked grid. Middle click the same grid square again to turn it off again. Also- grid lines are slightly thicker.

Looks like you can
. And if it does not work, let me know and I will adjust the program to make it work with mono.

To be honest I have not tried it. Are you familiar with mono? The program itself is written in C sharp so if you are able to get C sharp to work then you may be able to get the program to work on Mac

Dumb thought:
Isn't this kind off like the old program called SpriteCraft?

I mean this still looks a lot cooler and works way better, but... Isn't it kind of the same? :p

Yes, it is. Spritecraft was a bit of an inspiration for this. I didn't like some of the things that spritecraft was doing and I also needed features that sprotecraft didn't already have. I figured I could do better than what was already there so I built this. So yes. The concept is the same. The program itself is a strong upgrade over its predecessor though. Better features, more features, better color matching algorithm, double layer mode,. It might even be faster. I have not checked though. As someone who likes and enjoys building pixel art, I built this to solve all my annoyances that I have had when trying to build pixel art in my own way. On the server that I like to play on, we easily outperform spritecraft just by doing things manually. The matching algorithms within spritecraft are lacking, and on avg our human eyes better equipped anyways. Speaking with some of the pixel artists on the server, some new techniques started to arrive like double layer pixel art. They also use grid techniques for keeping track of position. I basically built this tool to automate what I would normally do myself.

Have you tried it yet? What do you think of pixelstacker? How does it compare? What is your favorite part? Least favorite part?

When searching for files there should be an option to choose the file type that you're looking for. Switch to jpeg instead of PNG in the program or else download some PNG images. Let me know if this helps.
Works amazingly! Good job!!!

It has definitely been years. It does work, though sometimes it gets the colors wrong (I'm using fairly big images that have a lot of pixels, so that could be a factor).Aside from that, it works great! I haven't built much with it yet, only a few anime characters.

Have you tried messing with the quantizer settings? Or the list of blocks to use? It works by using average colors of the the blocks, and adds in a preference in the algorithm for similar hues.

Input image is this, output is this. Quantizer settings are normal. Only materials that are enabled are

these: Wool,Powder,Concrete,Clay,Solid Ores, and Common.

That's weird. I don't know. Try enabling the second layer in the material options though. And enable the glass.

T
his is actually more of a feature improvement. I might allow a user to choose their own color match algorithm.

thank you for creating this wonderful software :3

It's been 3 years since you last posted a project.

:D Thank you for commenting! Yeah, I have been busy. I actually have been working on a lot of things, but a lot of it isn't in a good release state. Also, I never know which items people actually want to use. If people request things be updated, I can always do updates. Takes some knowledge of which things people actually care about though. I also have another plugin for a TRON minigame. Not sure how I'd do a lobby system for it, but it is kind of a nifty little project I have going right now. Not sure if people would be interested either.
