Once you've got your full protection IV diamond gear and your sharpness V diamond sword, there isn't really much more to do in this game of mining and crafting. This datapack was made to change that.

mcEXP adds nine skills that you level up by doing common things in the game, like attacking or mining. As you level up these skills, you get better at doing these things via permanent potion effects. At level 100 strength, you can kill a zombie in one hit with just a punch!

mcEXP also contains its own unique, comprehensive class system. Are you a ruthless attacker? Choose the Warrior class. Do you enjoy being unkillable? Then the Guardian is for you. Do you like to explore everything in sight? Then the Scout class will help you. Do you need more levels for enchanting? The Wizard class is for you. The Miner is for those who can't get enough diamonds, and for the archers among us I made the Ranger. Each of these six classes has their own buffs to XP gains, and each also possesses a special skill that must be charged.

Finally, mcEXP contains a prestige system. You can use your levels over 100 to buy prestige points, which can be spent on crazy buffs like:
- Diamond ore drops a steak!
- Overlevel enchantments up to level VI!
- Gain a full row of absorption hearts on respawn!
- Change your class!

mcEXP can be installed on any vanilla 1.13 world. Simply unzip the .zip file in the datapacks folder of your chosen world. Do not be alarmed if it takes a while to level up; this is intentional.

You may use this datapack on a server freely, If you post the server online, make sure to credit me for the datapack.

It has come to my attention that multiple websites are stealing and reuploading this datapack. You may only download this datapack and play it for use in a singleplayer world, or a multiplayer server (preferably contacting me first for the latter, so I can look at your server, and provide tech support if needed). You may NOT reupload this datapack ANYWHERE unless there is no download and there is a link to this here page. You may make modifications or tweaks with my express permission. Thank you for reading.

I tried to delete the datapack from one of my testing worlds by deleting the mcexp files from the datapacks folder, and the commands and books from the pack are still present in the world, how would I remove every part of the pack entirely?
I used 100 prestige points to change my class to Wizard so that I could increase enchantment levels, and now I can't gain any experience in intelligence at all, rendering the class change useless. How can i fix this?

Is there any way to make the commands to toggle abilities on and off work in command blocks?

No. They're meant to be used by the players themselves.

Does the jump skill effect fall damage? I'm worried about getting too high of a jump and getting hurt from a 1 block drop because I happened to jump (because I like hopping around).

The jump skill reduces fall damage, seeing as it provides the Jump Boost effect.

HI! Love this datapack so far, the only issue I have is with the Action bar Toggle trigger command. It works with every skill besides wisdom. Wisdom still flashes on and off, at a slower rate, but still there. Any way to get around this? I

Currently no way to toggle off Wisdom on the actionbar. This may come in a future release.

Hi, this seems like a nice mod for RPG lovers :)
Two quick questions:
First, can I install this without forge or any other programms, and secondly, can I use the mod in a Lan Party world with friends and family? If so, do they have to download the mod too, or can they just join my worlds without it installed?

You do not need forge, you only need vanilla 1.13 or higher. Since the mod is installed onto the world instead of the client, yes you can use it in a LAN party and only the host will need to install the mod.

I've been trying out this pack and it seems amazing. I'm a little confused as to what all of the special abilities unlocked at lvl 24 do. Also confused as to how to get the Berserk to activate.

Here is a description of each special ability:
- Berserk: grants high levels of strength.
- Shield Burst: grants absorption.
- Adrenaline Rush: grants high levels of speed.
- Arcane Epiphany: grants levels.
- Gold Rush: grants high levels of haste.
- Eagle Eye: causes your next 1 to 4 arrows to shoot farther and for more damage.

Each ability becomes available at level 24 in its skill, and charges when you do that skill. For example, Berserk charges by attacking things, while Arcane Epiphany is charged by collecting XP.

Hay man amazing work cant wait for more of your work to come out, but I was wandering when you it prestige do you keep your effects when you pick another class or reset if you do reset what do you keep
and how do you equip more than one class

But honestly amazing work anyway

You can only equip a single class at a time, and you keep all your effects when you change your class.

The mod uses new features introduced in 1.13, so there is no way.
Love this thing. Main issue with it has already been discussed in the comments, the constantly flashing stats are really annoying. I wish there was a way to see exp and/or levels without using the text flashing on screen, perhaps with a scoreboard command? It would be nice to be able to toggle your abilities on and off, as well.

Toggling your skills on and off is actually in the mod already. Use /trigger atk_toggle set 0 to toggle off attack boosts; you can do a similar thing with all other stats. As for the other part of your comment: my next version will definitely add a toggle for the actionbar stats.
For that command, what is the toggle usually set to? I'd like to be able to turn it off by setting it to 0, but if I turn it back on, what number do I use?

Everyone if you want to make it harder to get the effects open the mcexp file then open that file go into data then mcexp then functions then scroll down to common_tick open that file in a text doc and scroll down to where it says {effect give @a[scores={atk_lvl=2..,atk_toggle=1}] strength 1 0 true} where it says atk_lvl=2 you can change the number to equal the level you want to get the effect at. Do this for all stats and effect level then exit out of the file and reload the world you are playing this datapack on.

Hi love the mod it is really fun and adds to the Minecraft experience but I want some help with the datapack. when I choose a class eg miner it says the mining level increases 3 times as fast but when I mine a block it does not go up 3 points or when I level up it does not go up 3 levels how does this work .what is increased?

Hi, I have made a new world and used scout class and leveled up jump and it went up 2 levels at a time might just have been the world. Thanks for letting me know. I also have a suggestion I read in a past comment that the levels are done by scoreboard maybe you can have the scoreboard up or the right showing the levels instead of flashing?

It all works fine. I am at level 5-10 of most skills and already got Jump IV, Attack II, Dolphin Grace, etc. Too early for so much power. Can I change the abilities to higher level? Besides that, all works fine.
Also, what are the codes for spawning the Books?

Would be possible to give additional information, in the books, about the skill effects and how to use?

To spawn a class book and a guidebook, run the command /function mcexp:class_book (this will also enable another class choice, watch out). All the skills simply give higher level potion effects as you level up; not much I can do in the ways of additional info. About having so much power, I have been seriously considering drastically increasing the amount of XP needed for several of the movement based skills to level up and your feedback has encouraged me to do this sooner.

I did, but the datapack didn't work on my server. skills and classes were still left, but the buffs according to the level did not work.

Run each of the following commands (op not required):
/trigger atk_toggle set 1
/trigger def_toggle set 1
/trigger spe_toggle set 1
/trigger jmp_toggle set 1
And so on with SWM, MIN. INT, ARC and LUK.

Prestige buffs are all explained in the Prestige Book, which can be made by dropping a book, 4 diamonds and 4 paper on an enchanting table. All the class specific abilities are useable by sneaking when they are ready.

Arcane Epiphany instantly grants 1 to 4 XP levels based on intelligence. Enchanted Epiphany upgrades the first enchantment on the item in your 1st hotbar slot by 1 level, which can put it at up to level 6.

Hey this is a great datapack. My one thing tho, like others, is I would like to see an option to turn off xp text that cycles on screen. Would be nice to add an option to turn it off or use the custom boss bars

I am having a problem when i downloaded the skills mod where the mining skill does not get xp when i mine, and the inteligience skill does not get xp when i gain character action xp (from mining coal, killing mobs ect.) I can't figure out how to fix it. Every other skill gains xp, and i even tried downloading the heroes add on. I also tried checking if it was because the host of the LAN was on creative mode. Turning it to survival doesnt work. Did i install it wrong? Is it because of playing on LAN? Please help.

Hmm, that's troubling. The mining skill only tracks mining regular stone, so if you are mining things other than stone that may be the problem. As for intelligence, I have no idea what's going on based on your description. Let me know if either skill starts working. You should still be able to enjoy the mod without those two skills; the intelligence and mining skills were the last two I added and aren't essential.

I also haven't been able to get the mining xp to respond. I have mined everything available, stone included, and it doesn't register. What things are supposed to affect the intelligence skill?

The Intelligence bug is fixed in the new update. Alternatively, if you die it will be fixed now.

I realized my mistake. The new version should have the fix implemented, in order to fix it you need to run the command: /scoreboard objectives remove min_exp

Collecting any vanilla XP should affect your intelligence. It works for me in my singleplayer worlds.

Installation on a standalone server was a problem. The meta file was in the subfolder (in the download link above) and it would not load. When I unzipped it and rezipped it with the meta file not in the subfolder it worked fine. Just an FYI for anyone running into that problem. However my main problem is that one of the players selected a class on page 6 without realizing what they were doing. How can that be reset so they can choose differently? Additionally, how can you tell what is selected ? There is great interest in playing this RPG mod so I hope this is a way to do this. Thanks much.

All the commands mentioned here require op. To change a player's class, use "/scoreboard players set [player's name] class 1". 1 sets it to warrior; replace it with 2 for guardian, 3 for scout, or 4 for wizard. There is currently no way to tell which class is selected outside of commands, but the command is "/scoreboard players list [player's name]". This will show all their levels, XP, skill progress, and also their class, which is under "class" and uses the same encoding above.

Installation was as easy as could be and I could see it was active right away. The problem I'm having is I didn't want to chose my class right away until I explored the world a bit. I put the book in a chest for safe keeping and came back after exploring. Now when I try to chose my class it says "you cannot trigger this objective yet"
What am I missing? I've gained experience in several categories already. Was I supposed to chose with 0 xp? Is there another trigger event I'm missing? Are there command lines I can use to correct any issues?
My main concern is I start worlds so I can groom them and add things for short weekend playthroughs. If I can reset the datapack without starting the world over that's OK. HOWEVER I would like to be able to tease something the mod has to offer without grinding it. Any options?

If you have cheats on, you can use the following command to set your levels in skills: "/scoreboard players set @s atk_lvl 100" would set your attack level to 100. You can use def, spe, jmp, swm, min, or int in place of atk to change different stats, and change the number to change the level you want to be set to. You can also set those levels to 0 to restart the datapack, as you mentioned.

Thanks for your replies! This is super helpful. I've got a great weekend adventure set up for my daughter and this data pack will be the icing on the cake I'm sure.
Oh, and just a fyi, I was playing around with the ender frame teleportation pack and it seems to reset skills from your pack when you use their teleporter. I didn't playtest it any further than the first instance but I thought it was worth mentioning.

On the subject of the ender frame teleporter, I can’t do much about that except message the other pack’s creator. I think I know the problem, it’s a matter of whether the mod’s creator will fix it.

On a better note I’m glad you’re enjoying the pack. I’ll always be adding more features, and the Heroes expansion adds magical spells, bosses, and unique items, if you haven’t already checked it out. Thanks for using the pack.
No, I chose my class but the levels and experience reset every time I log out of the world

That's strange. In my test worlds it works fine. Are you logging in with a different username each time?
Its the same username each time.. haven't touched any settings in a while too

I don't know what's going on. The levels are kept track of with the scoreboard, and if the scoreboard is resetting then there's nothing I can do.
