Spellbound is a mod that is all about crafting and casting all types of spells. It was created in approximately 55 hours for ModJam 3.

You can do anything from throwing fireballs and directing lightning strikes to teleporting long distances and even controlling time! It aims to redefine combat while also providing an alternative to potion brewing.

You can download Spellbound from its forum page on the official Minecraft forums.

  1. Download and install Forge if you haven't already. Instructions will be on-screen when you open the Forge installer.
  2. Run Minecraft after installing Forge, then close it.
  3. Drag and drop Spellbound into .minecraft/mods/ and run the game.
That's all you need to do! Enjoy!

Spellbound has an in-game book with all of the information you need. See the above images for the recipe for a Blank Tablet and then the recipe for the Book of Spells. Craft the Book of Spells. It contains instructions, recipes, and other documentation of everything you can do with Spellbound.

  • Feature: "Breach" harvests the block it hits.

  • Feature: "Color Spray" changes a sheep's fleece color and the color of any wool in its path.

  • Feature: "Cold Blast" now freezes enemies for 15 seconds.

  • Feature: Added new spell: "Archmagic." Allows you to cast any spell instantly for 20 seconds.

  • Feature: Added new spell: "Meteor." Causes a meteor to fall from the sky on your target.

  • Feature: Added DoAllowSpellGreifing setting to config, so spell explosions can be disabled.
  • Fix: Removed duplicate recipe for Advance Time.
  • Removal: Removed setting that disables Greater Fireball from the config. Use DoAllowSpellGreifing instead.

This looks pretty neat, and I'm no modder, but I think in mods like this it would be cool to learn each spell INDIVIDUALLY, so there's actually a challenge.
