What does it do?

The Earth Mod has one main feature, The Earth.
It adds in a new World Type, which can be accessed by clicking through the world types when generating a new world. E.G (Default, Superflat, Large Biomes, Customized...)
This World Type creates a 1:95 replica of the Earth, in Minecraft. That means the world generated is 432000x216000 blocks in size. All the generation is based on real Earth data, from various sources.

How do I get around?

Getting around in a 432000x216000 world would normally be tricky, but not with this mod. This mod adds a new command '/tplatlong'. This command allows you to teleport to any given latitude longitude coordinate. How do you get these coordinates? The easiest way is to use Google Maps. Go to maps.google.com, click on the point you want to go to, copy and paste the coordinates it shows and paste those next to the command, but without the comma. For example: '/tplatlong 0.54154 45.54254'

You can also press 'P' on your keyboard and type in an address to teleport there!

I want to know where I am in the world!

There is a gui for that, and it does more than just that. If you press 'K' (default) on your keyboard, a GUI will pop up. This will show your latitude and longitude, the street address you are at, and a Google Streetview Image of where you are, and where you are looking.

Why not just download a MC World file? Why a mod?

There are a few reasons for this.
1 - Minecraft World of this size would be terabytes in size, this mod generates it on the fly, so your disk storage only has to store wherever you have been on Earth.
2 - This allows for more 'randomization', your world can be a little bit different each time, and compatibility with any mod generation, like ore generation.

I think this is brilliant. The fact that you got the whole world to a 1:95 scale and even added in block height is truly fantastic.

My only big problem is the biomes. For example, every plains state is in a "forest" biome, with the exception of Kansas and eastern Colorado. I don't know about you, but when I'm driving through North Dakota, it surely doesn't seem like a forest to me. Meanwhile, Yellowstone National Park is in a plains biome when Yellowstone is also considered a national forest. Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and all these other plans states should be plain biomes in my opinion.

However, I think that what you did was truly magnificent, so I am going to give you a diamond.
Hey can you update this to 1.12.2

I'm working on making the terrain closer to reality, so lakes and caves are definitely a priority.
Why bukkit can't use mods T.T I want it for my server... but is impossible to have a earth map like this.

Maybe a consistent scale was not such a good idea. For one, the terrain is less than stellar. In addition, you waste about 1/3 of the map height by including ocean topography. Mt. Rainier, for example, one of the tallest peaks in the lower 48, looks like a small hill.
I won't even get started on what Everest looks like...

Hmm, maybe I should not have included the ocean topography? I'll see what I can do to improve the scales.

Of course I understand how limiting a world height of 256 meters is, but without the ocean detail, it should improve the terrain some.
If only someone could resurrect the Tall Worlds Mod and complete it. Then we'd have plenty of room.

If only :P
Actually, small work is still being done, and I think you can download a beta of it.
My suggestion with elevation would be to have the height of mount Everest be right at the height limit and then scale everything else down from there. Just my 2 cents, I'm sure you've probably already thought of that. Elevation would be roughly 1:34 scale,. Interestingly, there's a minecraft program called Chunkmapper which creates Earth maps at 1:30 scale, but it has no naturally generated trees, the trees added using chunkmapper look horrible.... maybe you could copy their idea minus their trees. lol

Nice Job on this mod! And one quick thing is when I choose to go visit a city on the great lakes, I noticed all the great lakes in North America are missing.

Just tried this mod and it is great.  I went to the island of Maui in Hawaii.

I must say this is quite intriguing, it would be nice to have an option to create different provinces/territories/states of the world on a 1:1 scale, although if it were 1.7.10 I would run it in my modpack. it is definitely an interesting mod.
Could you add mesas in places such as Utah and Arizona? I'd love to build in a realistic Grand Canyon.

This idea is potentially much bigger than most people realize. If Minecraft developers could get more efficient methods for world generating and extend the map height (theoretically to infinity), this could make a huge leap forward in sandbox/open world gaming.

But any chance you could whip up a 1.8 version?
