1.8 PVP Map - Monster Industries

"Uh... yeah, work is really hard n' stuff but I get to manufacture rad Monsters and drop 'em like bombs on the other company to earn industry domination. So that's cool."

~ Donovan, 35, worker in the Monster Industry.

You new here, huh? Here’s a simple 5-step guide to getting started with Monster Industries:

1. Move back and forth on a pressure plate to sign Papers. Yeah, you got that right. If you were under the impression that working in the Monster Industry would be all tree-chopping and dirt-digging, you’d better think again.

2. Do other small, repetitive tasks to gather the 4 other resources: Coal, Gunpowder, Bone and Spider Eyes. Pointless? Boooring? NO! Put those thoughts in the garbage can along with your scepticism, and keep on reading.

3. Use papers and resources to produce Monster Eggs. At this diverse production facility, you have access to a wide variety of mobs such as Creepers, Skeletons, Blazes, Ghasts and more. All of them have specific resource costs.

4. Infiltrate the rival company with your newly-created Monster armies, and do everything you can to sabotage their production. They, of course, will try to do the same thing to you! The companies are separated by a wall so employees can’t pass through, but you can still discharge monsters onto the other side! Of course, the wall is made of see-through glass you can enjoy the sight of destruction.

5. Win the game by having your company’s stock value rise to 1000, and thus earning domination over the Monster Industry. Each time one of the rival company’s employees die, your stock rises by 100. Supplement this by trading in your Papers 1:1 for stock, and the path to victory is clear!

- Use Papers to buy weapons, armor and food to better prepare you from upcoming Monster invasions.

- Upgrade your resource production, so you can build bigger armies quicker.

- Buy slave workers to sign Papers for you!

- Employ business strategies that even executives only speak of in whispers.Infect the other company's employees with disease! Shut down their power supply! Destroy the pipings and flood their building with water! And more!

- Name your monsters, to give your enemies a more personalized hell.

- 2 teams control two companies: Creeper Corp. and Ender Enterprises! Choose the number of players yourselves.

- Difficulty hard, so each monster attack is more devastating.

- Respawn when you die, and keep all your items to make the game experience more fluid.

- New blocks and features from 1.8!

- Spectate games with the new spectator mode!

No mods required! :)

4 Update Logs

Update #4 : 05/30/2015 8:11:00 pmMay 30th, 2015

Hey! I'm back from the dead! I have been brought back from the afterlife to respond to some of your issues regarding the map. Hopefully, these issues are now fixed in the NEW UPDATE! The following changes have been made:

- The disease is now slightly nerfed and only lasts for 3 minutes (due to popular demand).

- It now costs 500 stock to lock the opposing team's bedroom.

- "HACK THE SERVER" has been replaced with something new: "SPREAD THE LOVE"! Using this foul tactic, all your opponents' released monsters turn into harmless cats for the cost of 300 stock.

- Transferring papers to stock now requires 50 papers for every 25 stock, to put more focus on winning through monsters.

- The Wither has been removed, mainly because they try to go after villagers in the shop and ignore the players. So instead, you can now buy potions where the wither skeleton heads used to be.

- Zombies have also been removed for the same reason, and replaced with Endermites.

- A certain command block loop has been fixed to reduce lag.

- No item frames can be broken

- Fixed the problem of slaves despawning.

I really appreciate your enthusiasm for this map, and apologize for being quite inactive in responding to inquiries. If you have any further questions, I will try to answer them as best I can. To get the updated version, click on the new link on the original post.

Is there by chance a reset button for this gamemode? If there isn't could you add one? (becuase the only way i'd know how to reset is to just replace the map in the saves for online or LAN gameplay.)  Nice map by the way, really love the idea :D

Another small update - download the map again to get it! This will probably be the last one. ;)

Now, you can choose between 3 different game settings:
- Small Game, where you need 750 stock to win and Slave Workers are unavailable. Recommended when you are very few players.
- Normal Game, the standard mode where you need 1000 stock to win. Here, around 3 players per team is recommended.
- Large Game, where you need 1500 stock to win. Will make the game last longer if you are many people playing.

There has also been some adjustment to game balance, as well as some bug fixing! :)

I wanna give a big shout-out to Preston & Lachlan for playing the map! www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xKw4Kt0kOQ

There's also some more info I should give:

- The button for getting Bone was buggy in the playthrough, but don't fear! This has been fixed, and by downloading the map again you get the new version! Your skeleton-filled dreams can once again be fulfilled.

- The wither will sometimes try to attack the villagers through the walls. I have tried things like making the villagers invisible and messing with entitydata to fix this, but with no success. If you guys have any tips, please let me know!

- HOWEVER, the villagers are invulnerable so they cannot take damage from mobs. Sometimes, it will appear as if one or more villagers have died or vanished. This is actually a bug in Minecraft, and if you relog it will fix itself.

- When you play, you should be in gamemode 2! This is important.

- Guardians are not very powerful. That's why they're the cheapest.

- When you spawn Ghasts, make sure to place them as far away from walls as possible, so they don't get stuck.
