[Description]

The world of Final Fantasy VIII in Minecraft.

It will feature the original story-line with all locations to discover and a CTM style (the wools will refer for each Guardian Force).

I'm trying to make everything as accurate as possible and although not everything is shown in-game, some parts will be made based on how I imagine things would be.

Comment and drop a DIAMOND to show your support! It will keep me motivated to continue the map!

[Latest Update] - 11 Oct 2017

A slow comeback, I know. Last update was almost 4 years ago. >.>

But I am regaining my interest in continuing this project. :)

I will build each location according to the order from the story-line. So Dollet will be next.

I had to raise the the whole terrain level map to 113 because Balamb Garden is very deep. Nearly lost everything from B1 all the way down to the bottom of MD level. D:

Balamb Island is now fully finished (as I had a separate map for Balamb Garden/Town and Fire Cavern) with forests, the road connecting Balamb Garden to Balamb Town, train tracks and included the train to Timber with interiors.

I had to update every command block code to 1.12.2 and added a few custom heads as decoration.

Feel free to comment or DM suggestions you might have! :D

Thanks, man! I have Dollet almost finished. I'm really enjoying building the communication tower. I will post more pictures when once I add it to the main world map. I build each location on a separate save so I don't end up jeopardizing the main save somehow. :D

Incredible work, pal! Do you use Ultimania book? Or just play FF8&build?
I hope you do it. Good luck.

Thanks man! I just play FF8 and build at the same time. It is far better that using the book, because while playing I can see the various angles of the 3D world map. :D
Could you make a version compatible with 1.10.2, by any chance? I'd really appreciate it since I like playing with mods, and mods are almost never available for the latest version.
At least not every mod is.

For 1.10.2, I think only the command blocks needs to be changed. Either way, if I finish this project and release it, it will probably be updated to the latest minecraft version by then. And I'm just using a few mods to make it look a bit better and to help me building stuff. I think it's still playable without the mods I'm using. :)

I played on a FF8 themed server for quite some time, and they had almost a complete FF8 world there - pretty impressive. But from the images you provided, I can see your builds are more detailed and seem to be more authentic. I'd love to be able to have a walk there in-game, or at least you could make a video presentation? That would be cool too!

Maybe I'll make a video. :) Anyway, I started updating the map again. So expect more to come. :D

That's great! ^^ In fact, I started to build my own Balamb garden, but found it extremely difficult. I don't know how to fit in the classrooms for example, so the structure actually makes sense. So I kind of gave up on it. So really thumbs up for you for actually building the whole thing.
I'd like to ask one thing: How large is the entire map? Oh, actually yet another thing: What do you use command blocks for? Is there like an adventure map going on? :o Anyway, 1.13 commands will change massively, so I'm afraid you'll have to go through all your cmd blocks again :D :/

The world map is about 9000x7000 blocks (~1GB), so it's quite massive. :D I'm planning to make it as an adventure / ctm style map, even though the only working command blocks I have so far are for the Balamb Garden Elevator and some item spawn to help me when I' m decorating interiors. :)

I started building Dollet yesterday, but it's being a real pain, because the in-game screens don't quite junction together. >.> So, I'll have to come up with some imagination for it. :P

That's massive indeed! That would be cool if people could explore it in a way of quests. A lot of building projects in Minecraft are purely decorative with huge empty interiors, which is just lame.

Yeah that's a problem with recreations, especially with those of games like FF where individual in-game screens usually don't make much sense. That's why my Balamb Garden project started to bother me. Looking at the screen shot from your Balamb Garden, I can say I attempted a quite larger scale there, and working with that large circles in Minecraft is hell.

Keep it up :]
Is this still being made??? I am a massive FFVIII fan and would LOVE to see this!!

I'm taking a long break from this project. I might continue it at some point. Thanks for your support though. :)
Anytime man! Totally understand if you're burnt out on it though, it's a massive undertaking!
How long does one place take to build?

Hi i've made Port Junon from FF7 and Galbadia Garden a few months ago, i'll love to check yours, Is it possible to visit your project??? Maybe a private tour or a private sneak peak??
Is this entire project true to the source material?

What do you mean by source material?
The original game, y'know, stuff like that. So you can walk through the game and minecraft at once and have it be very or completely similer.

Yes, that's the plan. I'm trying to make everything look like the original game. Although some parts will be made based on how I imagine things would be because not everything is shown ingame..
Thats sounds really smart, hope you can get it done.
