This design was built to incorporate some of the stylistic elements of the grand carrier and pirate frigate into a smaller ship. It is more "modern" than the older designs, with the main compartments on the same level as the balloon. In this I took some inspiration from edgedonkey's work posted on this site and the original H.M.S. Gibraltar schematic.

With the interior I was trying to get away from the symmetrical layouts I have used in the past. The crew section was designed to be extremely dense and complicated, with a lot of variety between the different compartments. Rather than a military feel, I was looking at ships like the Serenity or the Millennium Falcon. To put it another way, most of my ships are designed as "NPC" ships. This one (and the Pirate Frigate) were really designed more as "PC" ships. The next step would be to try a design where the exterior is also strongly asymmetrical.

The gunship puts all of its ranged weaponry the the fore section, with the same linked turret design as the Pirate Frigate and a set of emplacements hung under the hull. It also has a set of bombing tubes with a targeting window in the aft section behind the cargo bay.
