BloXy requested a red recolor of my original cutter schematic. Since I had been considering doing pirate "versions" of some of the smaller designs anyway, I took the opportunity for an extensive rework of the original design.
The idea is that the pirates would have stolen a naval cutter and then modified it, upgrading its crew complement, engines, and armament. The result is a vessel that can punch well above its weight. There are more bolt throwers in each emplacement, and bombing tubes have been added to the rear of the balloon. They also help to tie it in visually with the much larger pirate frigate.
I also added a skull to the balloon. I couldn't make it work with framing crossing the center of the balloon, so I got rid of it and supported the front by replacing wood with iron. The challenge with these is making sure that it still looks like a design painted on the balloon rather than "Thomas the Undead Tank Engine".
