SIdenote: what do you think of the texturepack? It's still a bit of a work in progress, but please leave your thoughts in the comments!
Today I show you my latest project: the austrian class 297
Info
The Deutsche reichsbahn made two cogwheel locomotives to be used by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) at the Erzbergbahn. Although the machines had three times the performance of the original Erzberg locomotive class 97, they did not satisfy. There were always technical infirmities, which had long stays in the main workshop result. Also, the machines could be used because of their mass only on the Erzberg south ramp between Vordernberg and the Erzberg.
As early as 1949, the 97 402 was parked and used as a spare parts donor. The 97 401 (at the ÖBB the two locomotives were assigned the numbers 297.401-402) but was only until 1964 in operation.
The type was the strongest, but also the most elaborate gear steam locomotive in the world. In 1968, both machines were cashed, the 297,401 stands since 1976 as a memorial in Vordernberg.
