DESCRIPTION



Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is a French school of magic appearing in the Harry Potter and the Wizarding World series of books, films and lore. The chateau is located in or around the French Pyrenees mountain range, and just like the more known Hogwarts, the school is enchanted, making it unplottable on any map. Apart from accepting French students, foreign students from all around Europe, including Belgium, Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain and Luxemburg are known to study in the school of magic.


Notable people include:



Nicolas Flamel
The famous French alchemist and philosopher was an ex-student of the school, as well as a sponsor for part of the school's construction. He lived for 665 years thanks to the Elixir of Life, his invention. The Philosopher's Stone was also a famous creation of his, which had various powers.



Fleur Delacour
The girl was a student at Beauxbatons school, and was one of the four champions competing in the Triwizard Tournament of 1994-1995. The quarter-veela moved to Britain to study English, and later married Bill Weasley, older brother of Ron Weasley.



Olympe Maxime
A French half-giant witch who was the headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Being the headmistress during the Triwizard Tournament of 1995, she was one of the judges, scoring all contestants fairly. Madame Maxime helped Rubeus Hagrid to try and persuade giants in Europe to fight on their side in preparation for the soon-to-come wizarding war, and attended the funeral of Albus Dumbledore.

I have based the map on Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and built it to be as close to the descriptions of the school in the books and lore as possible. Having limited information, however, I added features to make the place more interesting and magical, again, basing most of it on what is in the books.
The map includes the carriage the students used to travel to Hogwarts in the 4th Harry Potter book. The Palace of Beauxbatons is 5 storeys tall, not including the basement floor. The ground floor includes the library, hospital ward and the majority of classes. Floors 1 to 3 are home to the three of the school's houses (created by yours truly), each having a mascot of a national bird, mammal and fish of France. Floor 4 contains the offices of the Heads of Houses, the Headteacher's office, the trophy room, as well as the bridge to the owlery tower and other miscellaneous rooms. There is also the Basement floor, which contains a large swimming pool and an entrance to the underground canal system. The school grounds are very large, and are filled with a large hedge fence pattern outside the Palace, a huge lake, the Flamel healing fountain (which, due to command issues, does not "magically" heal), a huge lake and plenty of flora and trees. The blue-walled Quidditch pitch can also be found within the grounds. You will find the signs are in both English and French, not to mention other small details and little Easter Eggs. And those are just some of the many features.
