Far beneath the surface, miles away from the reach of human technology, lies a huge complex. A complex that specializes in manufacturing certain crystals that are very valuable to the native alien species.
Yet isolated, the species has thrived for thousands of years under the protection of Mars’ crust. Only recently, while tapping below the surface of mars for a sign of water have we become aware of there existence.
While we have seemingly not alarmed them in any way, we know so little about them, that even having the smallest contact with them could spark something unimaginable. The tap down through the crust into the caves has been sealed, and all human trace has been attempted to be removed, as we have no idea what their intent would be if a human trail was discovered.
