ABOUT:
Blackout is a story driven adventure map situated in an unknown post apocalyptic city in Russia. You suddenly woke up in a train station and all you hear is the rain outside and faint voices in your head. The voices seem to recognize you, calling your name.Blackout focuses on atmosphere, story and fun gameplay in which you scavenge for gear, fight bandits and run from invincible monstrous creatures occupying the city, all in search for redemption.

FEATURES:

-Cities and locations inspired by the ones in games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R or Escape from Tarkov

A small update. After recent feedback I received I've got notified of a couple of problems. So here's a fix:

-Removed the "Power up the tram" objective in the EPILOGUE chapter.
-Removed the backdoor leading to the iron bunker in the ODIN facility (as it confused players and opened up the rest of the map for no reason other than backtracking)
-Changed the locations of "Rozshteepacz" ultra rare weapon and "Marauder Boots" item
-Removed secrets "Kuticz" and "Hrom"

I'm still trying to understand what was happening, I'm really confused.

I'll play the second one, maybe I'll get some answers, or I'll just end up with more questions. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wait that was the real ending? Damn it felt like i missed something, also the task tells you to find a way to power the tram, so that is really misleading, you colud have made 2 endings, when you go to the tram there are bandits or something and one of them has tge fuse for the tram, then you can escape and the map would end with you being outside the city

Well it tells you at first to power the tram, but later you'll find out that *SPOILER* Jupiter isn't really who you think he is *SPOILER* so your task of powering the tram with his help becomes impossible.

yeah i do know that, but at the end after the hospital you wake up inside ODIN and it still tells you to find a way to power the tram, and lets you go outside, but in reality you need to get to the roof and go inside the broken window

You sure it didn't tell a new objective? If not, then yeah it is very misleading, but i don't know if it is really worth patching just for this one change that didn't even have a direct impact on gameplay.

If you mean the one close to the end of the map, then if I remember correctly, you don't actually need to power it, even though Jupiter says so. In front the ODIN facility, you just turn left and you'll enter the forest, fight through dozens of bandits, enter their lair, and from there you'll continue onwards.

You are actually supposed to enter ODIN, climb up to the roof, find the ladder that can boost you up the vents and jump into the hole in the wall on the roof. That will lead you to the ending part.

OH GOD ! IT'S FINALLY HERE ! I was waiting for you to finish this map for SOOO long (well, it was for about a month, but seemed like a longer wait) ! I can't wait to try it. I'll actually do it right now, and tell you what I think about it after I finish it. EDIT : I finished it. One of the best maps I ever played for 1.12 ! The atmosphere felt really good ! I also finished the survey.

I really enjoyed the map ! The interesting thing is, while playing it I was wearing a skin I made of Atlas from Bioshock, and Jupiter kind of reminded me of him. I also think the game was a bit like Silent Hill too. How did you make the Bandits patrol and not see you while they don't look at you ? It' like they had more AI than just "shoot the player". The story was very well written and not boring, but the best thing is the atmosphere. The music was very nice, and I like how you used the Metro Exodus trailer music at the radio in the building from Chapter 1 ! I am waiting for that game and you made me want it to come even quicker. t's from a game called Half Life 2. If you didn't play it, I would recommend you to. It's from 2004, but I really like it and it's set in a Post Apocalyptic world, just like your map. I would have one LAST question : Did the map came as you expected it to be when you started working on it ? Thanks for taking your time !

Haha yeah, you could say Jupiter kinda behaved like Atlas in many ways. Well I did play through Silent Hill 2 and 3 so maybe there was some unintentional inspiration. For the skeletons, well I didn't alter much in the AI, it must've been just a neat coincidence, I did alter the following range a bit. And yes, I always focus on atmosphere in my maps, I want them to feel very real.
Yeah I'm excited for Exodus too, that's why I used it! For the clip you sent, I'm a big fan of Half-Life, I finished both of the games and the additional episodes too, so I'm very familiar with this, I wouldn't consider the clip music, it's more like a sound effect. It does fit the map very well, however at this point I don't think this map needs new sound effects, I might still be able to use this somewhere though.
For the last question, well mostly yes. I did rush the ending a bit since I felt the map would get too long and repetitive if I tried to stretch the epilogue a bit. I did plan something more for the final boss and Jupiter at the beginning, but I think the map came out fine.

No problem ! Thank you for your answer ! I also played both of the Half Life games and the episodes (well, I still have to play Blue Shift) and the map came out just fine ! The ending is actually good, so no need to worry about it !

The resource pack will (as always) be included with the map download (it will load automatically once you load the save). And for the mods - there are ABSOLUTELY NO MODS REQUIRED!

So stay tuned. The map should come out during this week.

Both SEUS and Optifine are RECOMMENDED, not REQUIRED. The map is greatly playable even without them. However there is a flashlight you can use if you have shaders installed, it is not required though, it's more for atmospheric purposes.
