📖 About This Build

This schematic is a Minecraft recreation of Candi Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple compound in Indonesia and one of the greatest monuments of Southeast Asian civilization. Built during the reign of the Sanjaya Dynasty of the Mataram Kingdom in the mid-9th century (circa 850 CE), Prambanan is located on the border of Yogyakarta and Central Java, standing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a pinnacle of classical Javanese-Hindu architecture.


Prambanan is dedicated to the Trimurti — the three principal deities of Hinduism:

The compound originally consisted of 240 temples in total, most of which now lie in ruins due to centuries of earthquakes and volcanic activity from the nearby Mount Merapi.


This Minecraft build faithfully recreates the inner zone compound (Zona Inti), including all six main temples, the surrounding perwara shrines, and the ceremonial terraced platform — capturing the grandeur, symmetry, and sacred geometry of the original structure.

Candi Prambanan is a protected cultural heritage site listed under UNESCO World Heritage (inscribed 1991) and is protected under Indonesian Law No. 11 of 2010 on Cultural Heritage (Cagar Budaya). The temple suffered severe damage from the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake and has since undergone extensive restoration efforts by the Indonesian government and international heritage organizations.
