I built this arena during the last couple months on the Iciclecraft survival/economy/MCMMO server, in my town, Capburg. It doesn't have a specific purpose, other than to be a gathering spot and PvP arena and a nice monumental work of architecture for the town.
I based the architecture on a number of sources, especially American Neoclassical, Renaissance revival, and Romanesque revival. The large clerestory window, and the overall shape of the arena ceiling, were inspired by Barton Hall in Ithaca, New York, by Pilcher & Tachau Architects. The pediments without raking cornices are an Art Deco feature.
The building is four floors total including a basement. The front and back sections of the building are only connected on the first floor via the bleachers and the basement via the locker rooms. The front basement contains storage rooms and a kitchen, as well as access to the ticket/concession window. There are four locker rooms under the bleachers, two on each side. The back section of the building contains offices, break rooms, meeting rooms, etc., a press box off the second floor and a skybox off the third floor.
The interior is currently empty of furnishings, but that will change soon. The main thing that needs to be done is the locker rooms.
