Minor update - Closing up the interior of the narthex (south/main entrance) this is where the organ will be built

So, after a year long hiatus, i can open my save file again. This time with shaders! I hope to start uploading regular progress updates, though RL can be a b*tch.

Inspiration for this complex comes from (but not exclusively):
- Salisbury Cathedral, Salisbury, UK
- Great or Maria Magdalena Church, Goes, NL
- Dom of Cologne, Cologne, DE
- Malmesbury Abbey, Malmesbury, UK
- Amiens Cathedral, Amiens, FR
- City Hall, Middelburg, NL
- Saint Janscathedral, 's Hertogenbosch, NL
- Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury, UK
- Temple of Time, Castle Town, Hyrule

To do list: (far from complete)

- Aisles (Interior done)
- Nave (Almost Done)
- Apse
- Transepts
- Rose Windows (WIP)
- Central Tower (Octagon like Ely Cathedral)
- Facade + Tower(s)? (two tower front WIP)
- Wall Design
- Floor Design (Coming along nicely :) )
- Roof (Aisle roof design done)
- Altar
- Mausoleum
- Abbey
- Crypt

I'm currently building in a superflat world, but as soon as i have figured out the exact dimensions i will move it to a world with more.... hills and stuff.

If you'd like to see more progress updates, please let me know!

Update #6 : 05/05/2018 6:38:27 amMay 5th, 2018

For a year, i could't acces the save because of problems with MultiMC. About a week ago, i decided to try one last time, but now without MultiMC and use the regular launcher with Forge. This has solved the problem plus having the additional benefit of enabling me to use optifine and thus Shaders!

This has given me new hope! Minecraft runs way smoother now (new pc helps) and annoying bugs from chisel and bits (such as not being able to place anything except individual bits) have been solved.

I would also like to involve the community by asking what you would like to see finished first. I won't make any promises, since there are sections of the cathedral for which i have no finite design in mind.

It's good to be back!

It is a sub mod of Chisel, Chisel and bits. You can carve pretty much every shape you want. Each minecraft block is divided into 16x16x16 'bits'.

I actually really like it. You should totally move the structure to a more natural environment and take some pictures with Shaders.

It probably will be taller. I have just finished building the triforium and it came to be higher than i expected.

Thank you for your interest! I am not quite sure yet. It probably will be a rib vault, but i do want the ceiling to be a focal point of the church. So far i have been thinking about a star rib vault and a sexpartite rib vault. Not sure about the sexpartite vault because it would require redesigning half of the pillars. I would love to build a star rib vault, since i do have a sort of nerd crush on that type of ceiling.

@ bob_2_MC: Thanks for your comment and compliment! I chose to use chisel, because it gives me the opportunity to use parts of textures, reducing the constant repeat of textures. Furthermore, chisel allows me to build parts and then re-use them.

Very interesting project so far. You have very nice curves on the roof and the windows are amazing. You seem to have a great understanding of form, depth, and details.

I would honestly suggest you simply do the same thing with full sized blocks without using the mod as much. While this build looks great it is missing a sense of grandeur that would really give it the "wow" factor since it is so small.

This is a really good build, and I think you could easily do it in vanilla and it would be outright amazing.
