[WIP] Othrond [WIP]
"It's storming outside and the wolves are howling in the night. You find yourself stranded on a small island without any memory of what happened or where you are - not even who you are. In the misty night you see the light from some torches at a nearby ruin." - Introduction to the story
Features:
This project is done entirely by me, my pickaxes and many stacks of dynamite (I rather use the pickaxes since TNT is quite destructive), no mods have been used. I've been working on this map since mid March 2010, so this is probably the oldest Dwarven City still in the making!
I aim to create not only a map but an experience. I want this to be a creepy map to play on with an accompanying backstory. I don't want to create a linear map ("go there do that or else you can't advance...") there will be more than one way to complete the story mode, but you're not even forced to follow the storyline as you can go ANYWHERE (I think...) without reading the backstory/story. A perfect map for explorers!
I hope to get a save up after summer/early autumn but it won't be the "complete" map nor will the whole story be there because it's not done yet, but at least it's something right?!

Features:
- Othrond/Central Chamber: Deep below the earth among pools of lava and darkness lies the city of Othrond. For ages ,almost as long as the existense of mankind, has the dwarves lived and defended themselves behind the mighty walls of Othrond.
- Underground Highway: With the establishment of the Underground Highway the dwarves could safely journey above ground and trade with the humans and elves.
- Mountain Hall: Not all dwarves are miners or smiths (which is common belief), some of them are wise and savant. The Mountain Hall is a temple built and maintained by the scholarly. But beware, although the scholars are savant they are not people to be trusted.
- Thorn's Tranquility: A mining town. It was named after a dwarf called Thorn who were searching for mushrooms and accidentally fell into a great cave - much to his surpirse, he found a cave full of them! And tonnes of diamonds, iron and other stuff he couldn't care less about.
- And believe me, a lot more!

The project as you might have noticed has been put on hold indefinitely. I have not worked on it for almost six months now. Unfortunately I don't know where this will be headed but I would definietely want this to be completed and released someday. So much lore has already been written and basically the map is in it's final stages, but I just can't find the interest to do so.
Some of you might wonder why this project has taken so long as it has, but it's basically like this. Everything, on this map has been done by hand, in survival mode. Though I have used cheats to spawn items and MCEdit for fixing some smaller things, 99% of everything you see in this map has been mined, dug and placed by hand.
I've come to a halt, I just can't manage to complete it even though I'm almost there, at the finish line. I've decided to take a break, do some other project in Minecraft and someday release this map, even if it will take me another two years, I will do it.
