Because of the change in height limit, I am cancelling this project to build on. I will make one with taller mountains and higher elevations. Plus, I am making a much larger map. :)

This is a custom terrain with multiple villages and fortresses. It's my first submission. I started off with a hand-drawn map, which I turned into an 8 tile by 8 tile map in WorldPainter with a 30 tile border. I then started editing it manually with WorldEdit for some gravity fed rivers, fixing some minor terrain problems, and will be using it with creative mode on my local server to build the buildings.

I usually watch The Lord Of The Rings while I play Minecraft, and I went through the WorldPainter mapping process across one play-through of the trilogy. As such, some of my areas have been inspired by LOTR and I will be building a few fortresses with qualities of some of the areas of Middle Earth, though I am in no way trying to recreate it.

Featured here is a map that covers the exact area of a player's map in the game (I am really OCD about my maps), and a 30 tile ocean border (the map area is 8 tiles each side, so you can imagine how far of an border you have, good for RP). The edges of the inside map's sea are at bedrock and go up with sand to the shores. Forests are quite abundant, with a plains area to the West. Mountain ranges have peaks that go up to the sky limit at some points and boreal forests below them until the deciduous forests at lower elevations. It is built over a seed that is completely ocean on the player's map and has streaks of different forests and a desert biome built into the coding (and thankfully no swamp, I hate swamp, even though I've replaced my swamp class files with the old swamp class files that are just the regular biome terrain colour pattern). As such, it may look slightly different based on your texture pack, but I am using the Ornate pack and it looks amazing. The seed does not contain any of this, but is just used for it's good biomes. If anyone is interested in a complete ocean world, then that's the seed for you!

Settlements on the map.
Echor Nadhor | 5%
Nor Orod | 0%
Daer RÅ·n | 0%

Here is what I will consider my progress.
25% | Exported from WorldPainter.
30% | Terrain issues resolved.
35% | Terrain fully edited via WorldEdit.
55% | One third of the settlements built.
75% | Two thirds of the settlements built.
95% | All settlements built.
100% | Secondary villages completed.

Though, I will most likely not end up doing just one at a time, so this chart may just be irrelevant.

Notable features.
¦ The NE corner has naturally spawning mooshrooms, while I've yet to encounter neutral mobs anywhere else on the map thus far.
¦ Gravity-fed rivers.
¦ Majestic peaks and jagged ridges.
¦ Large caldera-like pasture surrounded by a river.
¦ Prominent cliff like that of Minas Tirith.

Here is the archive of the world saves.
¦ 0.0.1
¦ 0.0.2
¦ 0.0.3

I have included the WorldPainter ".world" file, which is raw and unedited, but a fraction of the size of the edited world files.

You're free to use this for personal use or for servers, but please don't redistribute it. If you want to make your own buildings on the structure-less version of the map (version 0.0.1) and release it, however, please consider referencing me in your info.

I'm about to release a new map that's much larger today, if that interests you. The first release will just be landscape, but I will actually make updates for it with a fully built world. :)
