Geschichte der Feritz
- Zu beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts war ein Aufschwung in der Schifffahrt.
Neben weiteren Projekten an Passagierschiffen
musste die Reederei auch auf Fracht setzten. - Gründe dafür waren die Wartungen und den Bau einiger Passagier-Liner.
- Im November 1902 fand die erste Kiellegung statt neben den zwei
weiteren Schiffen der Klasse Pilnitz und Müritz - Jungfernfahrt im März 1903
- Die Slava-Klasse Transportiere herkömmliche Fracht und konnte auch
einige Durchreisende mitnehmen für die sie auch 3 Kajüten anbot - Bremen war ab 1905 neuer Bezugshafen der Linie nach Kanada für die Feritz.
- 1907 eilte sie zur Hilfe eines in Brand geratenen Passagier Schiffes
- Sie befand sich 1914 in Bremen und wurde aufgelegt wegen des Krieges
- Anfang November fuhr sie noch eine Zeit lang nach Norwegen bis die
Britische Seeblockade eintrat. - Im Februar 1916 wurde sie als Hilfskreuzer in Kiel umgebaut um
Kaperfahrten zu unternehmen. - Die Feritz wurde zur SMS Seelöwe umbenannt und legte Minen in der
Nordsee entlang der Seeblockaden Grenze und der Färöer Inseln. - 1917 brach der Kontakt ab, die Letzte Meldung war am 6 August 1917 um
19:21 Uhr im Indischen Ozean bei der Position 11°14' S, 114°42' E. - Eintreffen eines Signales am 9 August Morgens um 7:35 Uhr
- Die Seelöwin machte sich auf den weg nach Jakarta um sich dort wieder
Vorräte und auch Kohle zu beladen - Sie legte am 13 August wieder ab und machte sich auf den Weg durch den
Indischen Ozean Richtung Heimat - Am 23 September traf man auf die SMS Wolf und tauschte Vorräte unter
einander sich aus - Auf der Heimfahrt traf sie auf einen Britischen Geschützen Kreuzer und
einem Australischen Zerstörer. - Nach einem Versuch die Gegner abzuwimmeln traf die SMS Seelöwe auf eine
Seemine im Indischen Ozean und versank in weniger als 7 Minuten - Sie kaperte 19 Schiffe und versenkte dabei 7 Stück davon.
- Die Besatzung wurde später gerettet und kam in Kriegsgefangenschaft

Gesunken durch Seemine 1917.

- At the beginning of the 20th century there was a boom in shipping. In addition to other

were the maintenance and construction of some passenger liners. - In November 1902
the first keel was laid next to the two other ships of the Pilnitz
and Müritz class. - Maiden voyage in
March 1903 - The Slava class transports conventional cargo and could also take some passengers
for whom they also offered 3 cabins - From 1905 Bremen
was the new port of reference for the line to Canada for the Feritz. - In 1907 she rushed
to the aid of a burning passenger ship - It was located in Bremen in 1914 and was abandoned due to the war
- At the beginning of November she travelled to Norway for a while until the British naval
blockade occurred. - In February 1916 she was converted as an auxiliary cruiser in Kiel to undertake caper
voyages. - The Feritz was renamed the SMS Sea Lion and laid mines in the North Sea along the
sea blockade border and the Faroe Islands. - In 1917 contact broke off, the last report was on 6 August 1917 at 19:21 in the
Indian Ocean at position 11°14' S, 114°42' E.
