Greetings everyone,
today I want to show you an updated version of the paddle steamer Gisela, which I originally built in 2020.
Notice: If you want to use the Gisela of one of your projects, please ask me for permission per pm.
Special thanks to:
Chrisi: for help with updating the hull
Ato: for the renders
History:
The D.S. Gisela was built in 1871 by Joseph John Rustron and entered service in early 1872, operating on the Traunsee with the homeport of Gmunden. During the first world war, ownership of the Gisela and her fleetmates was taken over by Rudolf Ippisch after they were interned due to their original owners being british. In the 1930s she received an extensive refit during which both her masts were removed. She continued to operate until she was laid up, because she was deemed as unusable in 1980. Luckily she was saved from scrap by the "Freunde der Stadt Gmunden"/"Friends of the city of Gmunden" and restored to an operational condition. Since then she carries passangers every sunday around the Traunsee, surpassing her 150th anniversary in 2021.
