More Original than it has ever been!
The SMS EMDEN now in its 1914 wartime version
After the First World War broke out the Emden left her harbour in German Tsingtau on the 2nd August 1914, heading for the Indian Ocean to wreak havoc on Allied shipping.
It was there that she was equipped with a fourth funnel to disguise her as a british cruiser. she managed to sink more than a dozen enemy ships in just 4 months and disrupted allied shipping to europe severely including a Russian cruiser and a French torpedoboat. On the 22nd September she destroyed british oiltanks near Madras.
on the 9th November 1914 she was finally catched by the Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney near the Keeling Islands where she put up a strong resistance but due to her being heavily outgunned she was eventually destroyed and beached by her crew on North Keeling Island. Where parts of her wreck still rest today.
