i could alter this to have it work with tekkit (i.e after the smashing it pulls some items into a macerator, then builds the other parts and compresses it into the diamond. it would be a bit more slow, but it would be so cool to do it with this beautiful build.)

Everyone getting all excited about the diamonds is kinda missing the point... This is a beautiful piece of minecraft building, the design is superb.
