Diesel train DR1A

DR1 (Rizhsky diesel train, 1st type) is a series of Soviet diesel trains of the Riga Car Building Plant. The diesel train DR1 of the basic model is the first serial diesel train created in the USSR.

In 1973, the first diesel train DR1A-405 was built, the generator of which could work as a diesel starter. He received an extraordinary number, and, like the DR1P 400 numbers, had a composition of 2×(Mg+ Pp+Pg). Production of the DR1A serial trains, which began in 1976, continued through the numbering of the series (DR1A-123, etc.), and were usually delivered in a classic (single-section) layout. In 1977, an experimental diesel train DR1A-144 (original designation DR1B) was released, the control circuits of which were duplicated by equipment containing contactless logic elements. In 1979, an experimental diesel train DR1A-168 was built, which had a spotlight under the windshields and received a flattened drivers cab, similar to those used on the experimental diesel train DR6 built later. The location of the red buffer lights has also changed (two lights were located immediately under the windshields). However, the production of DR1A trains with similar cabins began after the collapse of the USSR in 1993.
