DREHMAL v2: PRIM Ω RDIAL
On October 27th, 2017, we released Drehmal. At the beginning of 2019, we decided to remake it from the ground-up. Drehmal v2: PRIMΩRDIAL is the culmination of more than a year of hard work and learning. Featuring entirely new high-quality beautiful terrain, a fully functional fast-travel system, thirteen custom-built towns, 300+ loot-filled structures, 16 unique weapons, one large dungeon, custom advancements, a resource pack, and a lightweight 'main story'.
Drehmal v2 is a completely fresh, unique Minecraft experience unlike any other.
Where most large-scale custom terrain maps strive for realism, Drehmal's terrain is designed to be unique and whimsical, with gameplay experience being the first priority. The entire map is incredibly detailed, every area purposefully designed with survival playability in mind.
Other large-scale survival maps will just create the terrain, maybe build a town or two, and call it done. Drehmal is different. Across the map you'll find secrets, hundreds of unique buildings, hidden weapons, and stories. This is not just a survival map with custom terrain, this is a fully fleshed out gameplay experience built off survival Minecraft.
The world is filled with lore and small stories, each region and town having carefully thought out histories that are reflected to an extent in-game. This map is a part of an incredibly extensive worldbuilding project that myself and Keeko have been working on together for over four years now. Enchanted books are broken when in singleplayer- however, for multiplayer servers, using this Spigot plugin made for us by the lovely kuthedk will fix it!

If using Optifine, set your cloud height to 100%

Recommended to set Music, Ambient, and Jukebox sounds to 55% and leave all other sounds at 100%

Drehmal v2: PRIMΩRDIAL is best played on small-scale multiplayer servers. Multiple goals across the map are designed with community in mind, such as unlocking all fast travel points, progressing the main story, and discovering all the weapons. However, the map is still perfectly playable in singleplayer. Some tasks may just be more tedious/difficult.

If you plan on using this map on a Bukkit/Spigot multiplayer server, do not install the 'Essentials' plugin. Drehmal v2 is heavily reliant on command blocks, and Essentials will cause them to not work. Plugins that alter any pre-existing vanilla commands or affect scoreboards will probably cause command block logic to break.

Make sure command blocks are enabled for your server.

Disable spawn protection for your server.

This map's terrain was created using the software WorldPainter, and due to its nature, animal spawns are rare. Most every animal you see across the map has been hand placed. If you stay in a chunk for long enough, animals will start to spawn very rarely. Be aware that they are a relatively finite resource, so animal breeding is encouraged.

Accessing The End is not like vanilla Minecraft. Eyes of Ender will lead you nowhere, as there are no natural strongholds on the map. The End can be accessed by progressing through the Main Story.

If you find a Cartographer villager, DO NOT LEVEL IT UP.
As there are no naturally spawning Ocean Monuments on the map, cartographers are broken. When you level up a cartographer, it is guaranteed to get the trade for an ocean monument map. As there are no ocean monuments anywhere, the game will encounter an error and crash. Your world/server will be fine, just rolled back to a few minutes before the villager leveled up.

When someone discovers a unique weapon, the crafting recipe for that weapon is unlocked for everyone else. Weapon crafting recipes can be viewed via the Recipe Book, and unlocks tracked under the 'WEAPONS OF LEGEND' advancement tab.

A Gravestone Datapack is highly recommended. You can use whichever one you like, but we would highly recommend Xisumavoid's Player Gravestones datapack.

mobGriefing is set to true by default, but we would highly recommend using a datapack or plugin that disables Creeper and Ghast craters. Xisumavoid's Anti-Ghast & Anti-Creeper datapacks work, but cause Creepers to not deal any damage. Use these if you're playing the map on singleplayer. If you're running a multiplayer server, we would recommend using Domoco's No Mob Griefing plugin and configuring that to disable Ghast and Creeper craters.

Do not set the map to peaceful mode for any reason. Drehmal features a number of hand-placed enemies, and if they're in loaded chunks and the world is set to peaceful, they'll be gone forever. This can lead to one Mythic-tier weapon being unobtainable without using a command to force the advancement.

The map is set to Hard mode by default. The lowest we would recommend you set the difficulty is Normal.

Phantoms are disabled and do not naturally spawn. You can, however, find phantom spawners in a specific biome on the map. Phantom Membranes can also be acquired easily at a certain point through progression.

If you journey out far enough into the ocean, you will eventually reach normal minecraft terrain.

While we've tried our best to keep the map bug-free as possible, there are a lot of command blocks, and we're only two people. If you find a bug, please let us know in the comments or via DM.

Yo, how's it goin', big fan of the map, got a question for ya

I'm trying to use the, uh, actual "map" of your map here (the first image in that slideshow up top the page, you know the one.) to help me navigate this insanely massive beast of a build, but I'm having trouble recognizing landmarks.

I ask because, well, I wanna plot this entire map out for where all major structures, towns, roads, towers, etc are! And, uh, honestly just knowing where the spawn is would be a great start to my little journey here. Thanks in advance!

And, while I may or may not have your attention, what's this about a storyline? I must've run around this massive behemoth of a landscape up and down and haven't found any sign of such a thing. Where can I go to, uh, start that, i guess

You can join the community Discord and look inside the resources chat or maps chat to see maps people have made.



Just keep exploring, surviving, and unlocking towers. You don't exactly stumble across it - it just happens eventually. Might be a while before that though.

I just finished this map and in simple words... Its beatiful, Really, this map is the best adventure map i played in my life, i know the soundtrack is from another games, but it fits well for the cities, the castles, the exploring, etc. the weapons are well-balanced, every weapon is different, and getting them is funny, like the Frenzy or the ascendance you need to do a puzzle, its pretty neat and well done.

Maybe because i expected much from the End of the map, i got a bit dissapointed(no spoiler don´t worry), but i felt it like tasteless, or a bit simple but i also felt the dedication and affection while i was playing, all was detailed, pretty neat, the story is good, the scenery is beatiful to the view, the loot in some random placed buildings is "balanced", It is a Extremely good map, maybe it can be better i know it, like some lineal main story(because i get lost a bit sometimes...)But like this, this map is awesome, nothing more to say.

Congratulations for doing this map, Im going to show it to some friends and people who like exploration because this is very good.

(also, WHY IS FAERCYCLE´s TOWER IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE?, it took me1 hour)

Thank you for the kind words and the feedback. If there's one thing I wish to improve, its the map's finale. Could you possibly be more specific in what was disappointing about it? I.E what you expected, what sort of emotions you felt at the end, did you feel like it was too short, it ended abruptly, etc. If you want to DM me about that, I'd really appreciate it :)

Well, in the final part of the map, right after the "ULTRA-DOOR"(im trying to not spoil the map), all was like dark, and empty, it was amazing that feeling that, "this is the end, this is the destiny" at least i like that kind of feeling, its a bittersweet taste because its the warm of complete the map, and also the nostalgia of leaving map, the atmosphere of the final dungeon was very accurate, the song was calmed and a bit terrifying that matches so good, the final boss it was... well... nothing special but the map was good, Guards in the pillars(im really trying to not spoil...) it was good, now... the thing that i felt that was a bit tasteless it was the "after-story", in a lot of games there is a After-story, or what my cousins calls... "What hapened after we completed the game", if you play the map and you want to know the story of the Realm of Drehmal, there is very little things about the story, almost like the bible(no offense but its true), you can imagine what happened if you visit temples and cities to read the books about records or journal or the devote campist in the beginning of the map, you can have an idea about it, whit the Vault of terminus you can also know about the terminus itself and its backstory, now Right after you defeat the final boss there is like almost nothing of lore, nothing about, what happened to the realm, what happened whit the serpent bro when "he" meet the crown girl(really, im trying...) it can be great for a 2nd part of the map, that will really be good, maybe more lore, i know there is the After-story Sword, the "Breaker" that is like a bit of lore of what is happening in the realm, but i didnt felt it like it was a end, well, is personal opinion i dont know if people will like it like me cuz im a lorekeeper and a part-time storymaker.

Hi i got a bit of problem, when i host the map in a lan session, Im the only one that can press the button to choose a class, but when my friends press the button they don't get teleported, is there a way to fix this?

Really great map, we can see you put a lot of effort into it, but there is a couple of things that kindof hold it back or rather, was the reason me and my friends attempted it but couldn't bring ourselves to finish it.

1) Enchantment books with blue names that are in the loot chests around the world seem to be broken, and don't work at all to enchant things. Enchantment books should have yellow names.

2) There is a lot of effort put into the map, but it would probably help if you provided some way to help people become nomadic in their games, maybe 1 shulker box as a backpack or something, because we tried to make a base and found out other problems with the map, as well as we were semi-limited on where we ended up going.

3) Things are really far apart and provide no direction of how to get anywhere or where to go next, if you don't have the main map up on this page you have no idea where to even go.

4) The cave gen is okay, but the ore gen is really messed up, making it so caving is the only way to get good ore amount, normal strip mining provides little if any actual results. There are also tons of random holes everywhere beneath the map, like pockets of random air, water, or lava.

5) There is tons of effort put into the map, but I feel like instead of all the mini chest stuff there needs to be more things like breath of the wild, like puzzles or monster camps or encounters to find in unique places, which I realize is impossible to do over scale, but like setting a huge mob of inspired creators on the map to make alterations and place camps/puzzles and other interesting things besides random bridges and paths that end nowhere, and random chests as the only custom block in a whole vast impressive landscape, would really go a long way to help encourage exploration.

6) The music is very loud in towns, and seems to be on the master volume track when I know for sure you can play sounds on certain categories in the playsound command.



I know maybe not all of this is valid criticism, but that's what my friends ended up disliking about the map, as we couldn't make enough of our own materials to begin to travel around.

We didn't catch that issue with the enchanted books until the map was released, and it would take a very long time to try and fix.

We wanted to try using a backpack datapack that gives maybe only a row or two of extra space, but we couldn't find anything like that. Having shulker boxes available from the start would've lead to some balancing issues and diminishing reward from the End.

A lot of people found assistance in using a minimap mod like Journeymap to aid in exploration, as it can be pretty easy to get lost. The fast travel towers were put in place to help ease the issue of things being really far apart.

The cave gen is just an artifact of worldpainter, not really much we can do about it.

While we would've loved to do things like more complex puzzles and encounters across the map- we're still only two people. There are places like that around the map, but for the most part it's just those structures with some loot in them.

The music being loud in towns is just a Minecraft bug with custom sounds- they're all playing to the records/noteblocks channel but are only affected by volume changes in master.

We appreciate the feedback though, and have taken into consideration issues such as lack of direction for the 1.16 update.

Hi again! I solved the other bug, aparently it was something with the launcher, however, I have another bug and it´s that the Runic Books (Enchanted Books) can´t be used in any weapon or tool. But if I create a Enchanted Book with the Enchantment Table I can use it normally.

I have a problem: i tried to install your map on minecraft java ed (1.15.2 , forge ) from TLauncher, but it say: "an error has occured during analysis: possible cause: 1) (...) 2) The file is damaged or incorrect .

I encountered the same error on two different computers and also on the old version of drehmal.

Help please, your map looks fantastic.

P.s. answer me here if you can, I'm having problems with discord. Sorry for the bad English.

You can treat this like you would treat normal survival. You can avoid most combat encounters. And when you find a dungeon with tough enemies in it, there's nothing stopping you from cheesing them.

Since the map is heavily Breath of the Wild inspired, is there any chance you guys have a sort of "region map"? I would like to known where regions/provinces end/begin. Much like how breath of the wild's map had bordered regions for each tower, is it the same for this map? I see the names of regions on signposts at road intersections in the map but I never know when I leave a region and enter a new one.

Thank you! But you should know that a lot of things will break when ported to Bedrock. I'm not sure what, but I think all command block stuff has potential to break - such as the entire fast travel system, the main quest, and End access. Some mythical weapons may be unobtainable as well.

Hi my question is about this "story" in the game I was just wondering how it works, is it important etc. If its to do with like books etc then how do you know which book is the first in the story or if you stumbled upon one that's meant to be read later into the game?

The main 'story' is more like a quest that takes a backseat for the entirety of your playthrough and only becomes a priority towards the endgame. You'll find it, and while there is lore attached to it, you do not have to read it. There are a lot of lore books but there's no particular right order to reading them.

Hello. Big thanks for the map, really revived my love for Minecraft. Having a really great time playing with a friend. Have a question thought. I downloaded the map around 4 AM UTC at 4/4/20. Have been able to solve the bugs related to rogue boots, but I think I still have the problem with boots don't giving armour points. Should Lv 2 Rogue boots give me any armour?. Have another question. I'm playing on a vanilla server and couldn't figure out how to enter creative mode (need to change my corrupted enchanted books). Any suggestions for changing my gamemode?. Thanks for your reply on advance.

If the class boots aren't giving armor you might still be on the old version of the map. You can enter creative mode if you have operator permissions just by doing /gamemode creative.

The more I play this map, the more I see heavy inspiration taken from Breath of the Wild. This might just be the best 'not Breath of the Wild in Minecraft' Breath of the Wild map I have played.

Also while im here, quick question. Why does the map need optifine? What does it do for the textures that makes it absolutely necessary? I ask this because I really wanna play this with Journeymap but 1.15.2 Optifine doesnt work with forge atm.

I've heard good things about the Optiforge mod if you want to use journeymap. Without Optifine you're mainly missing the unique weapon textures and a few other misc. mob textures.

This is easily the best map I have ever seen (both in size, originality, etc.)..... I'm impressed. Also, does anybody know the coordinates of the villages?
