End Obsidian Staircase

I am building a surrounding staircase made of only obsidian around this End Portal in my world. The goal is to make the obsidian go all the way to the ground surface, mine out all the blocks in the middle so the entire thing is exposed to the sky. As you can see in the image, I haven't come very far. There is an advanced piglin bartering farm with a sorting system to help us get obsidian, and a gold farm to get gold for the bartering farm.
