The Cuax M3 cargo pod was a reasonably successful escape vessel designed to be integrated with commercial vessels as an emergency measure to preserve cargo. Equipped with a slow but functional darkspace drive, a variety of maneuvering thrusters, and a complex suite of environment control technologies, the pod can store a wide variety of sensitive goods and, in the event of an accident or attack, retreat to an occupied system for retrieval later. The pod also has an emergency beacon set to activate after a certain amount of time has passed, if the pod is unable to reach safe space. Cuax Technologies saw modest but steady demand from companies moving high risk or fragile cargo, and the pod was used for a little over four centuries before the company ceased production of the M3 in favor of a newer version, the M4.
