Premise

In 2048, thousands of exploration ships were launched to a newly discovered planet. This exoplanet, which is totally covered by an ocean has been detected earlier in 2017 and signs of life were discovered in 2021. The International Space Group started the initiative to explore this planet and by 2048, the first mega-ships reached this planet. Initially, 3000 pods were launched to explore the planet's surface. These were distributed among the member nations among how much they provided in funding and research. Countries like the United States and China got the lion's share of the exploration pods. The Japanese Republic, which provided 15% of the funding and R&D got 450 pods which were launched to this planet.

One of these pods, number 2048 was among those with the purpose to explore. This pod can house 3 people. One astronaut, one scientist, and one medical officer. The purpose of this ship was to study the atmospheric and oceanic concentration of the planet. This information would be necessary for the future establishment of colonial settlements. Missions of this nature would last 6 earth months. They would land with a parachute. To return to the mega-ship, the pods use a combination of the Redstone dynamo and an attraction ray launched from the ship

Inspiration

My inspiration was the Apollo and Soyuz spacecraft. This can be seen by the 3 person crew and the dome-like shape of the pod. It was made bigger to accommodate the research and medical equipment. It is similar to pod 5 from Subnautica
