Hi everyone!

We're returning to the American destroyers starting today, with a series of builds ranging from the Farragut class to the Gearing and Forrest Sherman classes. We're starting with the Farragut-class, which, I'm sure you'll recall I've built before. Indeed, I built the ship back in 2021 I believe and posted it here 1 or two years ago but I've improved since then and have access to better blocks, including modded ones so I thought I'd redo it ahead of beginning the WWII-era US destroyers.

I hope you like the result, I certainly do! I'm delighted with how the remake turned out. Much better than the original, even the original was still pretty good. As a basis, I used the World of Warships model, however, I want to represent the US destroyers in their late war condition, with camouflages, extra AA and usually the absence of their fifth gun. Because many of the WoWs models are from when the ships were first built, I had to make many modifications to correct the appearance of these ships to how I wanted. I used pictures on the Internet, real-life 3D models and line drawings to help make the changes, but it meant that some of these ships were harder builds than I anticipated. I've also been unable to build a couple of the ships I intended (such as the USS Maury from the Gridley-class) because there aren't enough good resources to build the exact version I wanted.

Anyway, enough rambling, let's get to the statistics:

Length - 104 Blocks (not including extremities).
Beam - 11 Blocks (ditto)
Draught - 4 Blocks

Primary Armament: 4 x 127mm/38 Mark XXI DP Guns [4 x 1]
Torpedo Armament: 8 x 533mm Mark XV Torpedoes [2 x 4]
Anti-Aircraft Armament: 4 x 127mm/38 Mark XXI DP Guns [4 x 1], 4 x 40mm/56 Bofors QF Mark I Guns [2 x 2], 5 x 20mm/70 Oerlikon Mark X Guns [5 x 1]

As for the camouflage, I've chosen to represent USS Hull (DD-350) as she appeared in 1944 with her all-blue Measure 21 camouflage.

I hope you guys like the ship and the improvements made over the original. The next ship you'll see is the Mahan-class, which is based on the same hull.

I'll see you next time,
