AU Profile - The Ningpo-class were an enlargement on the earlier Dingyuan-class, constructed in German yards for the resurgent Qing Dynasty in the 1890s to bolster the Beiyang Fleet. The ironclads gave admirable service despite the limited roles given to them by the Qing naval administration, and remained commissioned even after being supplanted by newer ships in front line roles.

I love a good ironclad, there's something brilliant about that period in warship history where you don't quite know what a designer is going to do - such diverse designs and they're all so interesting. All those innovations crammed into about a 30-40 year period to go from steam-engined wooden ships, all the way to pre-dreadnoughts where things got fairly standardised again.
You've got a good take on it, looks like it would fit right in around 1880 or so.
