Hello World!
I've spent the last few weeks working on this beauty! I wanted to keep it rather Minecraft-y, meaning it would sort of blend in with a vanilla Minecraft-style village (city) surrounding it. I based it on so many cathedrals that I don't know what it is anymore. It's just a cool looking Gothic piece!
The interior is basically completely barren. I've made all the supporting bits for the roof and all the columns and such, but for the most part, it's just empty.
The next step, I think, is to add the monk's living spaces! The dormitory and kitchens and all that. I'll probably pull heavily from Durham for that. (Update: Working on it, not liking it! Definitely not looking forward to decorating it, so I might just ... not :p)
And a crypt. We need dead things. I could even go Diablo-style for it! I've always wanted to play Diablo in 1st person! (Update: This is seeming more and more impossible. Does anyone know of any good crypt-y things I can pull from?)
After that I'd like to come back and figure out how to light up the place because it is really far too dark in here. It would be totally unusable in survival unless you spammed so many torches. (Update: I have spammed torches. And it's not much better. I'll have to think of actual decorations to light up the place.) If you have any ideas on how to light this up, leave a comment!
Then we'll get to stuff like the choir and all that. I haven't ever been in a cathedral like this so I have no idea I'm doing.
In any case, I think it looks AWESOME, so I decided to share it with the world! I'll update this page (you can do that, right?) as I build more!
I'm using a few mods (meaning this is 1.12.2) which make creative building SO much easier.
And WorldEdit. This would have taken 100x longer at least without WorldEdit. What a wonderful tool.
Side note on that: I can't get the Forge CUI to work, but I think that's because I'm using a newer edition of Forge than it is compatible with. Oh well.
Anyways, I hope you lovely people like it! If anyone wants the map (even though I'm not nearly done), I might try to bring the schematic into a normal, unmodded, vanilla world and upload it.
PS, I'm actually streaming the build! Maybe some of you would find it interesting! The name is JustinThePhilosopher.

3 Update Logs
Update #3 : by Kenta20 07/11/2019 6:13:50 amJuly 11, 2019 @ 10:13 am UTC
Okay I'm really sorry for 2 updates in 1 day, but I just did a LOT and I think the next update would be a while away.
I had this idea to make another crossbar instead of the weird round thing at the end, so I did that. it's made the structure quite a bit bigger, which I believe warrants an update.
It's exactly the same thing as the other crossbar, but one window section longer. The Eastern face now has the Western face's facade.
Fun fact: the West (front) facade is 2 blocks wider than the East (back) facade, which is 2 blocks wider than the North/South (side) facades. That was fun to deal with.
