Hello PMC,
I'd like to present the result of a little inspiration that I got from a trip to my university town some days ago.
During the time in the train, I saw a house nearby, modern-styled, with a backlog between 2nd and 1st floor...
Coming home with that idea, building began... and evolved a bit more than planned at first, but it's perfect like that.
As a friend of redstone, I checked the 1.7 snapshots frequently, stumbled across the /setblock possibilities and
decided to use this technique in my house.
The world was created in the snapshot 13w37c, same applies for the mechanisms - for best redstoning experience, use it!
All in all, it's a large modern mansion, containing:
- bar, kitchen (redstone-based)
- small conference area
- cinema (redstone-based)
- garage & parking space (redstone-based)
- roof garden
- bedroom
- minimalistic interior, especially on 2nd floor
The characteristics of this build is the backlog between the conference room and the upper living room, made of snow layers and upper slabs...
For best look, use a 1.6 build, for best effects (redstone, etc), use the 13w37c snapshot!
The schematic is for show, no ground is included in there (but displays the technique below really good)
For best optical results, use myLiminal Pack, I also used it for the screenshots (in combination with Sildur's Shaders)
But I also experimentated a bit with various other presentation possibilities
Thanks to:
- Luxury_Creeper for the screenshots
- cheeseburger22 (Minecraft IGN) for some help with a monostable circuit
- all the other supporters, including you!

Presentation Variants
On the one hand, the beloved .gif animations which got famous due to Lord_Guntaz' awesome work:

On the other hand, rendering with external programs, in this case 3ds max (but the shaders are pretty much of a mess yet, the .max is avaiable for everybody interested, just ask me!)
