Unless I'm mistaken, this is the first modern building I've ever uploaded to PMC. I can't believe it's taken me this long. Well, actually, I can. Since I approach Minecraft as somewhat of an RPG, I usually design houses that can be used in the context of agriculture or mining. And personally, I simply don't associate modern buildings with that. So normally, my builds tend to be more heavily inspired by medieval and / or fantasy architecture.
However, I'm increasingly excited by the types of buildings that our collective style of living seems to be gradually shifting towards – according to movies and TV shows like Westworld, at least. As I'm sure you've seen, a key aspect of this trend is its incorporation of plants and greenery into the very concept of the structure itself. And now that newer Minecraft versions come with an ever-growing range of natural blocks and items that can be used to make buildings feel green and alive, I've finally decided to try my hand at designing a futuristic (or at the very least modern) base.
As you can see from the pictures, my core idea was to combine different types of "modern" materials (specifically concrete, wood, and glass) to create the basic framework of the house, and to then bring them together with various plants and natural decorations. I wanted the house to have a very light, bright and even vibrant vibe, so I made sure that large windows dominated the overall aesthetic. The open-plan approach to the different parts of the interior is meant to contribute to this effect, as well. And finally, there are a balcony and a rooftop garden that both literally and figuratively connect the great outdoors with the inside of the home. All that's left to do now is to find a nice cliff on which to build this house in order to properly enjoy the amazing views.
