This city build was supposed to offer grand views of Pixelmon Nuummite's snow-covered mountains and glaciers, but since its cancellation it has sat in the pre-fabrication world map. But no longer. It still has some features held over for Pokemon in its design, such as a Pokemon Center and battlefields. Feel free to use this as a base to expand the project but be sure to give proper credit to both Wuufwuuf and myself! This map also offers a sneak peek at the Coral Reef Pack I will be releasing soon, as it features some (but not all) of the different coral & underwater plants.

It should be noted that the buildings remain unfurnished and this was intentional. They were supposed to be filled when placed on the Nuummite map on our personal server, but it was decided it's in the better interest to leave them empty; This allows anyone who wishes to use either creative-vanilla decoration or mod blocks to do so as they please. All future map projects done by myself or with my personal group of friends will be done in this manner.

So what tool/brush did you use to give the glacier that noisy look?

I used a combination of noise/crack-like/lined personal world painter brushes; I did short bursts of raise/lower and constantly shifted the brush angles to avoid consistency. This is after I hand painted the glaciers with a specific terrain layer so I didn't accidentally change the surrounding mountain slopes.

I experimented with the look in creative first to see if it gave the rugged look of a natural glacier's top, and it looked decent.

Nice man! So you kinda painted the mountains with your own hands? How does one say this? :D I gave up this method for myself because I feard the hard work. I got cool and awesome results with Geocontrol, but I always did not master the glaciers. Yours give me alot of inspiration!

My new method is I use World Machine (I assume Geocontrol is similar) to make the map's foundation so I know where everything goes, and then I use my personal brushes to enhance the terrain (make mountains more to the shape I like, add unique terrain, etc.). I'm not very good at using world machine so I can only really make basic stuff but that suits me just fine for outlining a map's overall look.

Short Version: Mountains got enhanced/shaped by hand, Glaciers were completely by hand.


It took a lot of learning but I'd say this is a much more favorable technique than my old methods considering it saves me considerable time (which I don't have lately) and looks more realistic. I may make a Glacier tutorial blog so I can share how its done if enough are interested. It's actually a lot easier than I make it seem since I tend to get wordy. lol
