☼ Icarus ☼

According to an esoteric legend, every ten years a rift opens between our world and a cosmic realm. Each time, portals open up between enormous torches built by an ancient civilization that worshipped the sun, the greatest of stars.

You are an ambitious adventurer, always on the lookout for a
more and more glorious and dangerous adventure. You've reached a small island overlooking an ancient oceanic gate.

As the sun begins to set, you start running towards the distant horizon.

Strawberry Jam #43: Reach for the Stars

This
map was created for a jam, a fun event organized by the CTMC Discord where participants have a span of 7 days to work on a small CTM map. The theme for this jam was Reach for the Stars. Icarus ended up second place.

Note: This is an unusual, experimental and difficult map. If you've never played a CTM before, this might be a tough introduction to the genre!

ICARUS - VERSION 1.2 : by Xhen_CTM 09/04/2026 6:02:28 pmSeptember 4 @ 10:02 pm UTC

• Added Advancements that guide you through the map, which also allows players to recheck the name of an area if they miss the hotbar title trigger
• Made the inventory cleanup system faster
• A music track now plays at the start of the map’s ending sequence
• Fixed a major sound-related bug, which caused most SFX in the map to not activate. The following events now have a sound cue: traversing the cosmic rift for the first time, discovering a new area, reaching Polaris for the first time, placing an objective on the monument, escaping the cosmic realm
• Polaris now plays a repeating sound effect to players in its vicinity
• Added teleporters to the monument, which quickly bring back players to the beginning of both areas with the goal of making repeated deaths less frustrating
• Removed the forced-spawn system. Players are now free to craft beds and set their spawnpoint wherever they please
• Made the monument more responsive to objective placements
• Changed the placement of the starting chest, and upgraded the pickaxes inside of it from wooden to stone
• Made a few encounters in the introductory area more difficult to better set the pace of the map, as well as smooth out the map’s difficulty curve
• Bring an umbrella: the meteor showers in Meteor Storm in T-Minus One now spawn more meteors, in a wider range, and activate from further away
• Made the CTMC shoutout in the spawning and ending hub a clickable link that sends people over to the CTMC Discord
